[edit] Childhood (1984–1991)

Vladi Marian Păunescu was born on 7 August 1984 in Constanţa to Cornel Păunescu (born on 20 January 1951 in Buzău and Laura Păunescu (formerly Kesler, born on 13 August 1953 in Constanţa). Vladi is one-quarter German, on behalf of his grandfather. Even though married in 1977, his parents had to wait for seven years until they could see their first and last kid born, a child whose life was not once in great danger due to numerous health problems that required several interventions from the doctors.

The first years of Vladi's life were spent in native Constanţa, inside his grandparents' house, along with his mother and his same-age cousin, Adrian Kesler. In that house, on 7 May 1986, Vladi would give his first signs of preference for the football team FC Steaua Bucureşti which that evening was to win the European Champions Cup. This thing was also encouraged by his father, also a big Steaua fan; therefore Vladi would sustain his team as far as he can remember. At the age of 4, Vladi moved to Buzău because of his parents' jobs, in a two-room flat. The Romanian Revolution of 1989 saw 5 year-old Vladi in his father's parents' house, where he spent another meaningful part of his childhood. Here he watched Steaua's second European Champions Cup final, lost this time, along with his FC Dinamo Bucureşti fan cousin Cristian Păunescu, a match he can better remember. During his childhood, Vladi developed a rather introvert personality, which he keeps up to this day.

[edit] Lower and Middle Education (1991–2003)

Vladi learnt to read and write at an early age and did not attend nursery school. In the autumn of 1991, he began his education at the Şcoala Normala Spiru Haret Buzău (Spiru Haret Normal School). Vladi graduated Primary School, with 10 marks (maximum score) all over, a performance also owed to his teacher's great liking for him. Also during primary school, Vladi fell in love for the first time with an 18 year-old high school girl from the Liceul Pedagogic Buzău (Pedagogy High School), a high school located in the same building with his instituion. One of the most interesting aspects about Vladi is his acute pnigophobia (fear of choking) with its roots back in 2nd grade when he was minutes away from choking to death with a candy stuck down his trachea. This wasn't yet the only time young Vladi's life was in danger, a serious car crash at his age of 6 with his parents miraculously leaving him with only a scare.

As a true football fan, Vladi joined the local football club, FC Gloria Buzău, at the age of 12. Despite the sympathy the coach had for him, Vladi left after only two months, disappointed with the poor training facilities. In school, Vladi remained the same good student with a final averages of 9.83 (out of 10) and with a special liking for the English language, which he learnt to speak fluently from the age of 12. However, his great liking for school came at the same time with falling behind with such subjects as sex and females, reason for his colleagues to send him up many times, giving birth thus to small conflicts with a few of them. In the autumn of 1996, Vladi changed his home for a three-room apartment located near the centre of the town. His first 8 years of school ended in 1999 with his first exams, the Capacity Exam and the High School Entrance Exam. He was admitted at the Liceul Teoretic Mihai Eminescu Buzău (Mihai Eminescu Theory High School) (subsequently Colegiul Naţional Mihai Eminescu BuzăuMihai Eminescu National College), topping the section of Mathematics and Informatics list, inside the 9K class (informally R.D. Doispeca subsequently).

As up the spring of 2000 and the death of his grandfather, Vladi began to change, taking on more responsibilities. Also in the 9th grade, Vladi received his first bad mark, a 4 at Geography (marks are from 1 to 10 and the ones lower than 5 are considered bad), followed in the 10th by his first 3, at Chemistry. Still, he remained one of the high school's best students, being a regular participant at regional contests of Mathematics, Informatics and English Language. Also, he developed his personal website in February 2002, still standing today.

During the 11th grade, a high school contest made Vladi better-known among his colleagues, thanks to the great acting he managed in the artistic moment of his high school. 11th grade also meant a change of look for young Vladi, as, for the first time, he dropped his mustache and long hair for which his mates would often use to laugh about. This also coincided with his first ever girlfriend, in the spring of 2002. The next year, his last of school, coincided with the preliminary year for the Bacalaureat and Faculty Entrance Exams. After having obtained the Informatics Programmer Certification with maximum score, he was admitted at the Academia de Studii Economice Bucureşti (ASEAcademy of Economic Studies of Bucharest), faculty of International Economic Relations.

In Bucharest, except for a quick spell with a Call Centre, Vladi decided to focus on his studies rather than to follow an early professional career . Therefore, he passed through faculty with a high grade average and no failed exams. Superior education ended for him in August 2007 with his passing of the Degree Exam (Project: External Market Selection: Case Study Commercial Activity of Real Madrid Football Club in Asia) with a score of 9.50, which certified him as an Economist specialized in International Relations. As up this autumn, Vladi will concentrate on his future career, which will probably be in Marketing or Advertising.

In the meantime, he developed his current personality (the so-called Vladi Sapiens Sapiens), which has been on for about three years. Also, he followed his dream of being a regular Steaua fan, going to almost every match of his team at the Peluza Nord, where he has so far been a regular season-ticket holder for 5 years. As of July 2007, he is a member of AISS (Asociaţia Independentă a Suporterilor SteliştiSteaua Supporters' Independent Association). He also decided to promote his favourite team's image on Wikipedia where he has been developing and maintaining the English language Steaua page since August 2006.

Ever since childhood, Vladi has always developed an addictive personality, so it was very easy for others to pick up various elements of it. Very proud of the uniqueness of his name, Vladi has always promoted it so that everyone would know it. Even though there was a period of time between 2001 and 2003 when he promoted his Internet Relay Chat nickname of sickboyTM (TM coming from trade mark) by printing it on practically every promotional material that came close to him, he returned to his original given name of Vladi, a name which many people have taken up in growing fond of.

On 6 February 2002, Vladi launched his official website, which was initially was to be called SickSite, but after some time and some web host changes, he renamed it to Planet Vladi in order to better represent his name.

Also popular is the brand he created for his former high school class of Doispeca, which was an informal transcription of the Romanian name of class 12K. One of the most popular classes of the Colegiul Naţional Mihai Eminescu Buzău because of their good performance in education and of their involvement in extra-curricular activities, the class of 12K or Doispeca soon became a small legend, of which everyone wanted to be a part of. Even though disbanded because of the high school cycle ending, their spirit still lives on inside their minds and inside the halls of their former high school.
