[edit] Vandalism
Hi, this is limetolime. I was wondering, is this spot here vandalism?
(From Canceled Superman films) Smith fought over Peters' decisions to not have Superman fly, wear a black costume, have a fight with polar bears in the Fortress of Solitude, a gay robot sidekick for Brainiac and a giant mechanical spider, forcing Smith to leave.
I would like to know. Please leave a note on my talk page. -limetolime
I'm having a problem with the whole Kevin Smith related section of this article. It seems to spend too much time on adoring Kevin Smith and somewhat derails the article. His quotes on John Peters whether or not they are accurate do not seem that important to the overall Superman content of this article. Also listing Kevin Smith's preferred casting seems idiotic. In the end Kevin Smith had no more involvement in the Superman film series than any fan with a fan fiction script posted up on the internet. If anything this should all be moved into a Kevin Smith article. In fact the whole cancelled superman film section seems pointless to the article, this is about the films that were made not the ones that failed to get a greenlight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.185.244.21 (talk) 22:01, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Merge
It has been suggested on a peer review for this article that Canceled Superman films be merged into this article. I am neutral on this discussion, but this article will be my main project on Wikipedia for a while. Limetolime 14:48, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Support - I am in support of this merge. I would suggest comparing what exists in Superman film series#Failed projects to what exists at Canceled Superman films. It may take some research to find references for the information that exists on the latter, so it can be merged here accordingly. Alientraveller, I recall that you removed the subsections from the "Failed projects" section sometime ago. I'd like to restore the subsections temporarily so it can be more convenient to insert new/merged information. Lime, if you have any questions about the process, feel free to ask, and I'll be glad to answer them. :) —Erik (talk • contrib) - 15:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Support - I support the merge. The article needs to be trimmed of all the extraneous details and unsourced original research. It's something that would work far better on a series page. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 14:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Comment: Has all verifiable content been moved from Canceled Superman films to Superman film series? —Erik (talk • contrib) - 00:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merge from Superman Returns#Sequel
- Support - I believe that after seeing Spider-Man 4 merged into the Spider-Man film series, I thought that this should be done with Superman Returns#Sequel.Limetolime 16:16, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think that's a clear choice. I'd go ahead and Be Bold on that one. Rhindle The Red 02:13, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Review
I am glad to report that this article nomination for good article status has been promoted. This is how the article, as of October 21, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:
- 1. Well written?: Clear and easy to read, quite a wonder how much history has been involved in all these starts and stops of production at making a new Superman movie.
- 2. Factually accurate?: Meticulous inline cites to (88) sources. Impressive.
- 3. Broad in coverage?: Thorough, certainly. Even includes well-sourced information about future projects, not always an easy thing to source. Good job here. I liked the tables at the end too.
- 4. Neutral point of view?: Article is phrased in neutrally worded language, so yes.
- 5. Article stability? I see a small bit of anon mischief and things in the edit history, but nothing overtly serious. Please do keep an eye on this. Also, at first I saw this large removal of material from the article, which got me spooked just as I was about to do this review. But when I took a look at the new article it seems you are splitting off a portion, and quite well sourced too I might add, to Batman vs Superman, so that's okay. However, don't just provide a link to the other article, but please do provide a small summary paragraph of it, here. Like you had done with Superman Returns.
- 6. Images?: Only one image is actually given, The Ultimate Superman Collection box, and a fair use rationale is provided.
If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to Good article reassessment. Thank you to all of the editors who worked hard to bring it to this status, and congratulations. — Curt Wilhelm VonSavage 05:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have put the following statement in a hidden comment until a source is found since GAs can't have {{fact}} tags. Once an inline citation is added, feel free to readd it. The statement is: "Knowles received a copy of the most recent script and, while citing several aspects that he felt needed improvement, gave a more positive review." --Nehrams2020 06:20, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recurring characters
Given the fact that so many of them are just the same actors, is there any point to the "Recurring characters" section? They are all mentioned in the sections on the individual films. Rhindle The Red 02:53, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the reason I made this was because (call me a copier) Spider-Man film series had one, and it was a Good Article. And I want Superman films series to become a good article as well. Limetolime 19:34, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Well, what works for the Spider-Man article just seems less useful here. Especially since we've included Supergirl in this series, but it's excluded from the list (quite naturally - only Jimmy would carry across films). I just don't think it's as useful here as it is on that other page. (Not that I think it adds much there, either.) Rhindle The Red 02:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Featured Article
I am extremely happy Superman film series reached FA status. However, I am annoyed by the fact that the page does not have a bronze star in the upper right-hand corner. Why is this so? Limetolime (talk) 01:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kevin Smith Inaccuracies
The Kevin Smith piece of Superman Lives is in need of serious trimming. Not only is it unnecessarily bulky, but it is also very innaccurate, seriously quoting pieces from "A Night With Kevin Smith" that were clearly meant as jokes. This is indeed a great article, so please don't let a lack of fact checking ruin it. Thanks, --Jasmerrin 16:05, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree, that section is embarrassing. Evening with Kevin Smith is not a reliable source by any stretch of the imagination. It needs real sources--Tristan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.80.30.65 (talk) 04:05, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Superman Returns Inaccuracies
Although Superman Returns recieved mostly positive reviews, the seriously disappointing Box Office intake is not mentioned.. I think the public should know that Warner Bros. was not happy with its Box Office performance and that a sequel could be canned.. So please add this in the Superman Returns article.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.224.69.248 (talk) 23:18, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] To whom it may concern
I have just recently overhauled the "Failed Projects" section. Don't worry, I'm the original editor who was responsible for that area, so don't flip out. I'm still not finished, but I thought that section was irresistibly ugly. Again, I still have yet to finish that section, so don't panic.-Wildroot (Talk) 20:10, 04 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Do we really need something on film ratings?
Spider-Man film series and X-Men film series don't include this. Does it really matter if the film was PG or PG-13? Wildroot 17:57, 06 February 2008 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was move all except LOTR. Consensus is clear to support WP:NCF. Non-admin closure. --MrStalker (talk) 13:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Superman film series → Superman (film series)
- Spider-Man film series → Spider-Man (film series)

- The Matrix (series) → The Matrix (film series)
- Harry Potter film series → Harry Potter (film series)

Oppose. It's much easier to type without brackets.I'd suggest moving Matrix series to franchise though.- Fine, Superman film series will still redirect to Superman (film series). Alientraveller (talk) 21:49, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. Same reason as Aleintraveller. Wildroot (talk) 16:28, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Strong Support per WP:NCF. Being "easier to type" is not a valid reason to oppose the move. JPG-GR (talk) 00:39, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Weak Support. WP:NCF reached a unanimous consensus on this in 2006. While consensus can change, there's no strong reason to override it in this case. Powers T 03:14, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support per reasons above. If consensus was established, and no valid reasons to override it can be found, then consensus should be followed. – PeeJay 20:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support. Guidelines at WP:NCF seem unanimously approved by those editors, and existence of redirects will make "easier to type" argument irrelevant. Mcmullen writes (talk) 20:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support. Also amongst others:
-
- The Lord of the Rings film trilogy → The Lord of the Rings (film series)
- James Bond film series → James Bond (film series)
- Underworld (series) → Underworld (film series)
- Rocky (series) → Rocky (film series)
- --Bob (talk) 21:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- LOTR should not be moved. It's a three-part adaptation of the novel. It's a trilogy. Don't be a piegonholer. Alientraveller (talk) 21:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- For the record, consensus on LOTR was reached here. Alientraveller (talk) 21:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- For the record, a discussion between two people, with one other commenting, with no consensus reached but the discussion stalling is not, by definition, a concensus. --Bob (talk) 22:04, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
- I have also gone ahead and moved LOTR, for which there was no less consensus than the others. The Evil Spartan (talk) 03:51, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Of course there was consensus! How is it a film series? It's a trilogy based on a book. Aaargh. Alientraveller (talk) 10:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The film series
Does the Richard Donner cut of Superman II create a new series?
- Series 1 - Lester
- Superman (1978 film)
- Superman II
- Superman III
- Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
- Superman Returns
- Series 2 - Donner
- Superman (1978 film)
- Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
Or do the 2 cuts of II still both feed into III?
- Series 3
- Superman (1978 film)
- Superman II - or - Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
- Superman III
- Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
- Superman Returns
As an aside, I wonder if anyone here has read the review of Returns on the Poobala site? - LA @ 01:08, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Man of Steel villain(s)
I know who they are going to be: Mongul and Metallo.
Long story short: around mid-December I was at a Navy base in FL when I saw some action figures made by Mattell with the title "Man of Steel" on them. A few Supermen, a Lex Luthor, and those two.
Figured I'd let you know... Teen Titan (talk) @ 10:41, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
