[edit] Potential for Expansion vs deletion

This article was indeed started by a member of the site in question, but I believe the potential for allowing it to remain, with significant expansion naturally, should be considered. The site currently boasts a forum with over 40,000 registered users, and it's monthly traffic numbers in the millions. Although that by itself does not necessarily merit the existence of the article. What is the current criteria for a website to be included in wikipedia? That might give me a guideline as to what it would take to bring the article up to snuff and into a presentable form. I've begun adding some additional content to the article and will continue to do so as I can over the next several days. Elijya 17:55, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's important to remember that there is a fairly high standard for inclusion of internet-based communities. Personally the meter by which I compare internet communities' notability is similar to that to real-life groups, primarily in the area of the amount of coverage they have garnered in mainstream publications, be they internet or paper. --Dr Excessus 18:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Big Boards currently ranks SHH! at #69 on their list of online forums, a rank it's held (or been close to) for no less than three years. There's currently over 43,000 Members and over 9.5 million posts, on a community that stretches back to early 2000. Not overwhelming statistics, at least when compared to IMDb, Somethingawful, IGN, AICN, etc., but I'd hope enough to at at least block a speedy deletion while I attempt to expand the article. I'd rather have at least an attempt at an article be nominated for Afd then get shut down with SD when I believe there is potential. Elijya 18:15, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
At that point, I'd point out that an article about the JJB messageboard (#41 on Big Boards), was deleted this week. Secondary sources are vital here. EliminatorJR Talk 21:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm currently attempting to gather further data about the front page itself, not just the online community, since the website's monthly traffic rate is in the millions. I know the site has been mentioned in Entertainment Weekly, and is also used as a source on many wikipedia articles for comicbook movies. Elijya 18:15, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

MESSAGE: I have recently added some more info regarding the boards and several members there have been vandalizing it. I request a temporary lock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.236.103.66 (talk) 06:31, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Can i please recommend that you remove the subsection of Cisto, as i do not see this as valid or useful. All it creates is bad publicity and bad advertisement for the site. I understand that it may have been created by Cisto himself though obviously. Tombutcher1990 (talk) 02:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

It's not "Cisto", it's Cristo, and as an objective article, it features both the positive and negative sides of SuperHeroHype.com, as any informative article should. (MrWotUp (talk) 06:25, 20 January 2008 (UTC))
