Superlitio is a Colombian band of rock en español from Cali, Colombia. They were founded in 1997. Its members are Pedro Rovetto (Bass), Pipe Bravo (Keyboards, guitar and voice), Mauricio Campo (Lead Singer), Alejandro Lozano (Guitar), Armando Gonzalez (Drums) and Dino Leandro (DJ). The band has participated and headlined a wide variety of international musical festivals. Their music has reached all corners in Latin America, and foreign countries such as the US, France and England. Two independent records “Marciana” (1.997) and “El Sonido Mostaza” (1.999), have allowed the band to tour all over Colombia, and have embarked the band on a 3 month U.S. tour (Gimme one dollar U.S. tour). In 2005 the band has finished working on their third record "Tripping Tropicana", produced by Tweety González (Soda Stereo, Fito Paez).

  • Superlitio release two independent albums Marciana and El Sonido Mostaza between 1997 and 1999 in Colombia to great reviews from the media and specialized press.
  • In 2000 the band's music starts to appear in several playlist from independent and commercial radio stations in the United States.
  • Summer of 2001 the band embarks on their first US TOUR, playing to large diverse crowds in cities such as New York and Los Angeles.
  • Starting 2002 the band go into the studio with Argentinean producer Tweety Gonzalez (Soda Stereo, Gustavo Certai, Illya Kuryaki, Fito Paez)
  • Colombian rockers Superlitio release their US debut in 2004 entitled Tripping Tropicana, on C M G / BMG US Latin.
  • In October of the same year Superlitio perform in front of 80,000 people at the 10th anniversary of South AmericaÂ’s largest music festival, Rock Al Parque. SL are veterans to the festival, closing it out in 2001.
  • Rolling Stone LA's catalogs the band as one of the "Bands to Watch for 2005". The band also appears in the cover of the 2004 People of the Year December issue along with Eminem, Michael Moore, and Julieta Venegas.
  • In the 2004 the band received Latin Grammy nomination in the Best New Artist category. Other awards and nominations for Tripping Tropicana include: La Banda Elastica Awards win for “Best New Alternative Artist” and three Shock Awards(Colombia) for “Best National Group”, “Best Video of the Year”, and “Best Alternative Group”. They also have been nominated for “Best Rock Album of the Year” for Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro 2005” taking place this February.
  • The first single, “Que Vo’ Hacer” was in the Top 10 on the Radio & Records Latin/Alt rock charts for over 3 months, hitting #1 numerous times and staying strong throughout.
  • Superlitio has been featured on shows from some of the top television and radio networks in the US including Univision, Telemundo, Mun2, Super Estrella and more. In August, the band was interviewed and did a live worldwide performance on CNN en Espanol.
  • Press coverage has included Rolling Stone, LOFT, Newsday, Billboard, Batanga, Al Borde (cover), La Opinion, LA Daily News, Miami Herald and many more.
  • Second single, “Perdoname” has just been released in the US and is already charting.
  • The first track on Tripping Tropicana, entitled “Babylon” was released on the influential BMG US Latin compilation “Latin Rock Explosion Vol. 2” along with tracks from Alejandra Guzman, Gustavo Cerati, Jumbo, Julieta Venegas, Aterciopelados and more.
  • The band performed at SXSW in 2005 alongside touring the US in March/April.
  • Tripping Tropicana is released in South America and Europe in 2005.
  • Alongside Juanes , Superlitio performs in their hometown in front of 40,000 people.
  • The video for "Lo FI" done by Colombian director Andres Mendez receives high rotation on MTVLA, Virgin Megastore chain in Frances, Much Music and various other channels in Colombia and the United States.
  • Superlitio close 2006 with a massive show in Cali for more than 3000 people, that was broadcasted live to more than a 1,000,000 viewers.
