Superior School District

The School District of Superior is the 23rd largest school district in Wisconsin.[1] The Superior School District has one high school, one middle school, and six elementary schools with a total enrollment of over 5,000 students.[2] The district has 2,322 students enrolled in elementary schools, 1,027 students in middle school, and 1,633 students in high school. [3] The district utilizes about 250 acres (1.0 kmĀ²) of land, and it is one of the largest employers in Douglas County, Wisconsin. [4] [5] The district provides learning and school services to children in the city of Superior; the townships of Oakland, Parkland, and Summit; the Town of Superior; and the Villages of Oliver and Superior. [6] The district also may provide services to students that are not living in the traditional district area (as a part of open enrollment). [7]



Superior Senior High School (a primary part of the School District of Superior) located in Superior, Wisconsin, is depicted here. It is the only High School in Superior, Wisconsin and about 1600 students attend the school.

The District is divided into departments, including the Buildings and Grounds, Business Office, Curriculum/Instruction, Food Service, Health, Indian Education, Information Technology, Special Education, Student Services, Superintendent, and Transportation departments. [9] The district operates in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. It also operates in accordance to bylaws which the School Board of the School District of Superior has established. [10]

The current Superintendent of The School District of Superior is Jay Mitchell. [11] The School District provides a universally free breakfast to elementary and middle school students. [12] The district also has a random drug testing policy that requires students who are in extra curricular activities or parking on school grounds to enter their name into a pool to be randomly and (without suspicion) be possibly selected to complete a urine drug test. Also, students may choose to become a volunteer member of the drug testing pool in a program called Pledgemakers. [13]
