Superhero Hype!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Superhero Hype!, often abbreviated to SHH!, is a film website which focuses on adaptations of comic books and graphic novels, as well as original superhero films. The main site houses a wide variety of content for upcoming films, including interviews, trailers, screenshots, and constant status updates for dozens of projects. The site also includes an Internet forum which has over 20,000 registered users.[citation needed] The site is a spinoff of ComingSoon.net. Both SuperheroHype.com and ComingSoon.net, as well as newcomer ShockTillYouDrop.com are all part of the Crave Network.

[edit] Overview
The site began in May 1999 originally under the name Spider-Man Hype! as a source for gathering information on the original Spider-Man film while it was in development. High web traffic and a rapidly growing online community led to the site's expansion into SuperheroHype.com in December 2001. Currently, the site is considered a prime news source for superhero and comic book films, and is often cited by sources such as Ain't It Cool News,[citation needed] IGN,[citation needed] and publications such as Entertainment Weekly and The Wall Street Journal.[1][2]
The site has a mascot called Hyper who represents an amalgam of all the superheroes the site promotes. The fictional character promotes the site on MySpace where he keeps a blog about his recent activities (usually conventions), reviews of the latest superhero movies and goings on at the main site and forum.[3]
[edit] The Boards
In late 2000, three "Hypesters" formed the SuperHeroHype Boards, consisting of board categories with sub-categories relating to that particular characters upcoming movies and comics. There is also a Community board where Hypesters can have off-topic conversations about politics, news and anything else.
[edit] The SHH Community Lounges
The Lounges are a staple of the SHH Community Forum. The Lounges are chat threads, simply there for people to converse with about pretty much nothing. While each forum has had their own chat threads, going as far back as "Phoenix Street" and "The TB", the Lounges are pretty much the most popular (To date there have been 21 lounges).
