[edit] History
Super Junky Monkey was a Japanese all-girl rock group, whos style touched upon punk, hardcore metal, rap, jazz, noise, and funk. Influences on the various members of the band range from Steve Vai to Jaco Pastorius, with the end result sounding perhaps like a more eclectic version of early Mr. Bungle.
Mutsumi died on February 5, 1999. The band broke up at this point, pursuing individual projects, which are listed below.
In Japan, the band released quite a few EPs and two full length albums (both of which were also distributed internationally), as well as 3 concert videos. A few years after Mutsumi's death, the band released the material they were working on at the time as the EP E-KISS-O and the greatest hits Songs of Our Universe. E-KISS-O includes 3 songs with Mutsumi vocals and 2 instrumentals. Songs of Our Universe includes a few videos as well as music. The band ended at a point where they were starting to mature as a whole and explore new directions. Their last album was the video-game concept album Super Junky Alien.
The group did the opening and credits music for the second season of the American animated series Skysurfer Strike Force. "Skysurfers!!" was played during the opening while "I Call Myself Sliced Ice" played during the credits.
