[edit] Licensing
This image is of a cover of an audio recording, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher of the album or the artist(s) which produced the recording or cover artwork in question. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of such covers
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
[edit] Fair use in article Supervixen
Although this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the United States fair use laws because:
- It's a low resolution copy of the original CD single.
- Use of the image doesn't limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the single in any way, but in fact may encourage sales.
- Because of its low resolution copies of it could not be used to make any illegal copies of the image.
- Its sole use is to identify the CD in question within the article.
- The image is significant because it was, and is, used to promoted the CD.
[edit] Image Source
- The image was derived from digital capture (photo/scan) of the CD's cover art. The creator of this digital version is irrelevant as copyright in all equivalent images is still held by the same party. Copyright is held by the record label, Almo Sounds. Claimed as fair use regardless.
