[edit] Problem of evil

Yes, Sunil but there still is a problem of evil. Karma, Karma in Hinduism are used to explain the problem of evil. Please read the articles. Swami Sivananda , quoting Brahma Sutras, explained it well.

regards, and thanks,

Raj2004 16:52, 26 March 2006 (UTC) Ok, I agree about the soul. when I mean the problem of evil, there are various social inequities. Karma is used to to explain this. Isn't this mean the problem of evil exists?

Raj2004 17:09, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that's fine. Maybe you should incorporate such comments in the problem of evil section.

Thanks and nice to meet you.

[edit] Rationalism in philosophy

Hello. I was interested in your comment on the philosophy talk page. Most of the discussion and argument has revolved around the use of 'rational' for philosophical methodology, on the grounds that methodology of 'Eastern philosophy' is not rationally based. I couldn't question that, because I don't know enough. Is there a similar distinction in Indian philosophy between mysticism (i.e. believe in divine or supernatural revelation of some kind) and investigation based solely on the evidence of sense perception combined with logic. That is generally held to characterise 'Western' philosophy. Dbuckner 12:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I found this here which says "In the ascertainment of Truth or the Ultimate Reality or the first cause the scriptures alone are authoritative because they are infallible, they contain the direct intuitive experiences of Rishis or Seers who attained Brahma Sakshatkara or Self-realisation. You cannot depend on intellect or reasons because a man of strong intellect can overthrow a man of weak intellect. Brahman is not an object of the senses. It is beyond the reach of the senses and the intellect."

Also "Inference or reasoning is an instrument of right knowledge if it does not contradict the Vedanta texts." The latter idea would characterise Western scholasticism up until about the tenth century. But then scholars increasingly come to terms with the philosophical ideas available in texts. Thus Ambrose, a fourth century bishop, says "Tolle argumenta ubi fides quaeritur" – take away arguments where faith is concerned. But Aquinas (thirteenth century scholastic) replies Cognitio autem nostra naturaliter ex sensu oritur, et per principia rationis procedit (Super Sent., lib. 3 d. 21 q. 2 a. 3 contra) – our knowledge naturally arises from the senses, and proceeds through the principles of reason. Although what we hold by faith may be beyond reason and sense, nonetheless we examine these things by reason. Dbuckner 12:46, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Good Point

Great comment about Eastern Ethics. I have long thought this was true, but this is the first time I have heard anyone else say it. Richiar 16:42, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your WP:AIV report on User:brownguy20

Hello Sunil,

Regarding your report to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism on User:brownguy20, unfortunately, this page is not supposed to be the place to deal with content disputes. I suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Resolving disputes or Wikipedia:Three-revert rule to see how to resolve your dispute. Cheers, Deathphoenix ʕ 21:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Re:Vandalism - Hello Sunil, User:Brownguy20 has since been block indefinitely for sockpuppetry. He has been involved in a number of revert wars on different Hindu-related articles. Regards, Gouranga(UK) 16:32, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help

Hello, some of us are growing increasingly concerned with Pauls mission to promote Ayyavazhi as a prominent religion through wikipedia. If you have time, I invite you to look in this matter and share any knowledge you might have. I have started a discussion on the Ayyavazhi talk page refuting some of his, what I find, very questionable citations. --Blacksun 15:10, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
