Policies, Guidelines and other documents

Ambiguous meaning or unclear:If something can be read in two different ways, it will be.
Ambiguous scope:so that no one is sure what the original intention was referring to, or if it is later meet.
Unknown:Some policies or processes are unknown especially to newbies.
Duplicated :Two or more documents might be the same today, but having a duplicate means they may be different tomorrow.
Conflicting:When two policies are in conflict there is obvious scope for conflict between individuals who have read them.

  • Ambiguous meaning: Wording 'Unencyclopedic', means different things to different people. This is because a number of documents conflict on what it means and have done so in the past.
  • Ambiguous meaning: Wording 'Original Reasearch', possibly used differently on wikipedia to the meaning in a dictionary.
  • Unknown:Notability Unknown or ignored policy to some. Maybe because policy not established long.
  • Unknown:Tagging articles for Afd. Seems to be unknown or policy ignored.
  • Ambiguous scope: Template: {{Original Research}} so template can rarely be safely removed.
  • Ambiguous scope: Template: {{Unencyclopedic}} so template can rarely be safely removed.
  • Conflicting:The order of headings in the layout, is apparently different in the Spanish wikipedia.
  • Conflicting meaning:Editing. Go ahead edit vs establish consensus on talk page before editing.

[edit] Priority

Make contact with others with same aim. Setup wikiproject(?), or find existing project. Notify others of it's existence. Establish priority on identified problems, check number of occurances with categories and Traffic tool. According to User:Fuhghettaboutit's post here in 2007 about 1000 articles a day are speedily deleted. It works out that around 39% of all new articles are deleted.

Encouraged more thought before raising Afd's. Specifically made tagging articles more clear, and included WP:CLN in frequently cited guidelines.
