Not too sure but the official Sundsvall homepage states that the city has around 93000 inhabitants (which is the same number that several locals told me). Quite a difference to the 43000 that are mentioned here...

Yes it is problematic to differ between the municipality and urban area (town), or whether to combine them. 130.235.137.163 08:20, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

It would be nice if someone could modify this article so that it turns up in Google Earth. It seems weird that E.O.N. arena and the airport appears but not Sundsvall itself. Maybe it's a matter of entering the coordinates in a format suitable for Google Earth?

[edit] Pronunciation

Which syllable is stressed? David Arthur (talk) 18:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

The latter. Both vowels are short. To my understanding, the standard Swedish prounanciation of the letter U is ʉ: (long close central rounded vowel, as in "you" or "sue") or ɵ (short close-mid central rounded vowel). However, in the local Sundsvall dialect, a short U is typically pronounced as the phonetic sound ɘ (mid central vowel), i.e. same pronounciation as the Swedish letter "Ö", or as in "heard" or "girl" but short. So I beleive the standard Swedish IPA pronounciation should be written Sɵnd'sval, while the local pronounciation is Sɘnd'sval (as if it was spelled "Söndsvall"). Thanks — I suspected as much, but not having heard it said, didn't want to make any assumptions. David Arthur (talk) 14:57, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
