Sunset Handicap
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sunset Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race run each year at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Los Angeles, California. The Grade IIT event is open to horses, age three and up, willing to race one and one-half miles on the grass and offers a purse of $250,000.
The Sunset is a prep for many important turf stakes.
The 2006 race was won by the 5-year-old T.H. Approval, the favourite, by 1.5 lengths and in 2:26.65. His win paid $4.60.
The brilliant and tragic Exceller won this race in 1978; South African import Colorado King in 1964, and Gallant Man in 1958.
