Sunny Hill, Derby is situated mainly along the Stenson Road (which goes out to the hamlet of Stenson, on the Trent and Mersey Canal). It lies the between the Derby City districts of Normanton and Littleover, and, to the south, Sinfin, and the parish of Stenson Fields in South Derbyshire district.
The hill on which the area is named is somewhat vague in its location even to its inhabitants - the Post Office of that name is in the dip between two small hills (grid reference SK3395133061) - but the more southerly one, which borders the Derby-Birmingham railway line (see Cross Country Route (MR)) appears more likely to be meant (see talk, and 1887 OS map).
