[edit] History

The club was formed in 1962 as Ryhope Youth Club, with a senior side being formed once the players became too old for the youth ranks under the name of Ryhope Community. During the 1960s, the club enjoyed great success in local football, competing in the Seaham, Houghton and District Leagues, winning a total of 18 cups and several league championships.

In 1982, the club were founding members of the Northern League Division Two, and were promoted a year later. Although they achieved a league placing of tenth the following season, survival proved difficult and the club was relegated in 1988.

In 1999, the club merged with Kennek Roker of the Wearside Football League to form Kennek Ryhope Community Association F.C., and in 2006 changed its name again to Sunderland Ryhope Community Association F.C.
