Sundance- born Ericka PaTrice Campbell April 4,1972
From the westside of Chicago, she attended Melody Elementary School(Chicago) but graduated from Maria Regina Catholic School in Gardena, California. Started Morningside High School in Inglewood, California but returning back to Chicago where she finished at Austin Community Academy High School.
Personal Life Sundance was awarded custody of the State of Illinois 3 months after her birth, her grandfather,(Ethell Day, Sr) regained custody and she remained in their care until she was 12. She was forced to try life with her birth mother and step-father in Inglewood California, but her mother was too abusive and wouldn't stop her heavy drug addiction, so for her 8th grade graduation, her gift was a one-way ticket back to Chicago to her grandparents. Her grandmother was an alcoholic and physically abusive and her grandfather was an extremely passive man and allowed the abuse to unfold. Once in an interview she stated "My grandfather was my angel in a household from hell" Hence she wears his name on her back (Ethello)
Career Attending church was a regular routine in Day's household, this is where she found her passion for the drums, She had an uncle that was musically inclined and gifted, he taught her how to play the drums and count measures in music. In high school she repeated everything he did, she played the drums and the alto saxophone, this was her escape from her home abuse which was applied by her uncles mother. When her uncle picked up a new hobby, djing, she was fascinated and had found her new love of music, Hip Hop and Chicago House Music, introduced by her uncle.
By the late 80's Sundance had already recorded a hit house record (Git Up- Fast Eddie) that was certified Gold by RIAA and Billboard. By the time she was 17 she was across the world on a 6-month tour in the United Kingdom. After coming home, she went to beauty school and became a successful hairstylist but music still was her calling.
In 1999 she pursued radio and she landed a job at one of Clear Channel's biggest urban station in Chicago and was employed 7 years, Within these years she invested in dj equipment after an inheritance of her uncles record collection dating back to the late 70's. Learning to dj came naturally, she had the best teachers in the world, with time invested, she was ready to take it to the next level, far more than just a club dj.
