Sun Rise Above

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sun Rise Above, also known as Sun R. A., is a hip-hop artist, notable for his leftist political views and corresponding lyrics. Sun Rise Above describes his music as hiphopraganda.

Sun Rise Above has been in the underground for some time, but finally "came out" in 2003 with the hit album Global Warming. In 2005, Paris (rapper) signed Sun Rise Above to his Guerrilla Funk imprint. Shortly after, Sun Rise Above appeared on the song "Throwyahandzup" with Dead prez and T-K.A.S.H., on the Guerrilla Funk release Hard Truth Soldiers. His solo album "Prisoners of War" was scheduled for release through Guerrilla Funk, but that never happened. The situation was described in 2007 on the Bare Regular website, to which Sun Rise Above is affiliated, as follows: "Guerrilla Funk was supposed to drop that album, but they played around for too long (the album was originally supposed to be released in Spring 2005!!) and didn't stay in touch enough, so Sun had to get his masters back. Remember kids, a capitalist is a capitalist, no matter what he looks like or pretends to be. 'You show me a capitalist, and I'll show you a blood sucker.' - Malcolm X. More on that later."

According to his website Sun Rise Above is currently working on a mixtape entitled "Think About It" and another entitled "Fellow Travelers" with producer Iron Curtain. He is also working on his 'last album ever' which is scheduled to be released soon.
