Sun Hwa Arts School is a private coeducational college preparatory arts academy located in Seoul, South Korea. Originally founded as the Little Angels Art School in 1973 by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon (who is sometimes referred to as the founder of the "Moonies"), the Sun Hwa Arts School was launched in 1974 and has been supported by the Sun Hwa Educational Foundation since 1977, when this foundation was created by Reverend Moon. [1]
It is considered to be among the most prominent visual arts, music and dance middle schools and high schools in South Korea. The school is known for its high academic standards and requires high entrance examination scores and interviews for acceptance. At the school, students specialize in one art form such as painting and sculpture, musical instruments or classical ballet. The school complex includes the Little Angels Performing Arts Center, home of the Little Angels dance troupe, which also was founded by Reverend Moon in 1962.
This school was founded by, is funded by, and has continuing ties to Reverend Moon and his Unification Church. Reverend Moon has poured his support and investment into the Sun Hwa Educational Foundation and the educational institutions it sustains including the Sun Haw Arts School in the belief that the revitalization of education requires what he considers to be an appropriate philosophy providing clear direction for the future for nations and the world. [2] The True Parents are identified by the True Parents Organization as Reverend Moon and his wife, Mrs. Moon: Reverend Moon having been sent (according to the True Parents Organization) by the Heavenly Father as the Third Adam to fulfill the mission that Adam and Jesus failed to fulfill. According to the True Parents Organization, humanity can fulfill their purpose of creation and enter the Kingdom of Heaven both spiritually and physically by uniting with Reverend Moon and his wife, Mrs. Moon. [3]
