[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Indonesia 1945 1s.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Indonesia 1945 1s.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Indonesian rupiah
There are major problems with the article - are you prepared to have a talk about it? SatuSuro 02:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Um, why wouldn't I be? If you want to say something, say it. Sumbuddi (talk) 10:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Well in many cases articles are being written by Indonesians with limited english :) Well the issue is where is all the info coming from - also are you up with WP:RS ?
I realise I might have asked you this before but need to check as the article is getting too long and complicated- and will need to be broken up at some point SatuSuro 10:14, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- My English is pretty solid, I hope ;-). Regarding sourcing, well most of it is sourced from www.bi.go.id, specifically the dates of issue and withdrawal. The mintage figures on coins (which in the section 'Sen coinage 1951-1961') is derived from the Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins: 1801-1991; incidentally the section on Sen coinage would probably benefit from being turned into a table. Dates on the issue and withdrawal of banknotes can be found in Bank Indonesia's cyber-museum, which has been down for a few days now, but is at http://www.bi.go.id/msmbiweben/koleksi_uang.asp. The other content is generally taken from the www.bi.go.id site, and most of the pages are linked from the article. Except the section on banknotes in the revolutionary period comes from the 'Political Dimensions of the currency question' which is a long PDF linked in the footnotes. Could you perhaps comment a specific section regarding its sourcing?
- Regarding structure I just moved the 'current legal tender' to the top, as I guess it is probably more important. Sumbuddi (talk) 10:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hey you have a sense of humour - phew that helps - my apologies if my short term memory seizes up from too much time on wikipedia :| I think you have let me know before now - - you might have a good suggestion as to how we might be able to break it up at all? it is really getting too long... - Hmm, a lot of the weight is about banknote issues. The problem is trying to separate it out from the history stuff while still retaining a coherent narrative. E.g. if you take a look at the section "1959-1965: currency devaluation and spiralling inflation", it is initially about the 90% devaluation of currency, but most of the rest of the section is technical data about banknote issues. I think you could separate it but you would also have to duplicate. But perhaps the best solution is just more banknote tables: it would not shorten the file length in bytes perhaps, but the article text could stick to major historical facts; e.g., 'The period December 1960 - January 1961 saw the end of the remaining Bank Indonesia notes of the '1952' series as legal tender.' doesn't really add any insight to ones understanding of the rupiah (because there's no source available saying that it was anything other than generally housekeeping to withdraw these notes_, and also in a table, the actual individual dates of withdrawal of each note can be entered.

- I don't currently have the capability to upload images. I was using commonist to do so, which seems to expedite things; I currently don't have the right JRE installed. But basically there are about a hundred images to upload in order to finish things off. I'm not sure it's necessarily a good idea to restructure until this is done, because the shape of the page is rather under construction. Sumbuddi (talk) 11:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- heheh commonist issues - both commonist and oggle earth were vexatious issues for me for almost 6 months :( - will hold off till you get to some limit - cheers and thanks for the chat - keep well and we will have to negotiate down the line how to get parts as sub arts or somthin like that :\ cheers SatuSuro 12:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
