Sumpak (weapon)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sumpak is a crudely made gun which uses a steel pipe for a barrel. For ammunition, the sumpak uses a shotgun shell, making it a devastating short range weapon. There are also several examples that use pistol rounds.

In order to fire the single-shot sumpak, one must push a hammer-like device in the breach end, relying on sheer strength to cause the bullet's percussion cap to ignite the bullet.

The improvised weapon is often used in gang wars, especially in the Tondo district in Manila.
