Sumner Gage Whittier (*1911) is a retired American politician who served as Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1953 to 1957. He was the Republican candidate for governor in 1956, but lost to Democrat Foster Furcolo. Previously he was an Alderman in the City of Everett, a State Representative, and a State Senator. He was then appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to head the U.S. Veterans Administration.
Mr. Whittier currently resides in Ellicott City, Maryland.
