[edit] History
Summitville was once a busy transportation hub. The name Summitville comes from the fact that the Delaware and Hudson Canal summit lies within the town of Summitville. Water runs downhill in both directions towards the Hudson River and the Delaware River.
Later the New York, Ontario and Western Railway, had a major station in Summitville. The O&W had a split off their main line that lead to branch lines heading towards Kingston, New York to the north and Port Jervis, New York to the south.
