Summit Township is located in Effingham County, Illinois, USA. The population was 3,431 at the 2000 census. It includes Effingham, with children going to one of two school districts. Either Beecher City Unit 20 or Effingham Unit 40.
Summit Township is also known as having an aggressive legal battle to keep alcohol out of the township. Summit Township is dry and has been due to the high Protestant population that inhabits this area.
Summit Township has also been known as being an extremely friendly area.It is also known locally for being a good place to raise kids and keep them out of trouble.
