Summertime Guy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Summertime Guy is a song by Eddie Rambeau issued by Swan Records, written by game show pioneer Chuck Barris.[1] Rambeau was to originally debut the song on American Bandstand in 1962, but mere minutes before Rambeau was to perform, he was told the song couldn't be sung, due to Barris being an ABC employee at the time. That was also the reason why the record was not played on any ABC-owned radio station weighing the song down so it was not a hit.[2]
Later, Barris contacted composer Milton DeLugg to arrange an instrumental version of the song. This would eventually end up on the game show The Newlywed Game and would become its signature theme song.

I'm just a summertime lover,
I'm just a summertime guy,
But I'm a real cool drizzle in January,
But a sizzle in the month of July,
Oh won't you know now,
I shine best when the suns out,
I like the temperature high,
But I'm a cool operator when the heat is on,
'Cause I'm just a summertime guy,
I can't take a nickel singin', jingle bells,
And I'm nothin' under mistle toe, no,
But I'm a warm weather wonder on a, sandy beach,
Like the girls in bikinis all over let me tell ya,
I'm just a summertime lover,
Yeah, I'm just a summertime guy,
When it snows l keep praying, that it won't be long,
Until the red, red robin starts singin' his song, and when he does,
I'll move right on, and give love a try,
Oh yeah,
I'm just a summertime guy.
(break)
Well don't you know now,
I can't take a nickle singin', jingle bells,
And I'm nothin' under mistle toe, no,
But I'm a warm weather wonder on a, sandy beach,
Like the girls in bikinis all over let me tell ya,
I'm just a summertime lover,
Yeah, I'm just a summertime guy,
When it snows l keep praying, that it won't be long,
Until the red, red robin starts singin' his song, and when he does,
I'll move right on, and give love a try,
Oh yeah,
I'm just a summertime guy
I'm just a summertime guy, (fading out)
Who needs a summertime gal,
Who needs a...
