Summerball NY is the Thursday night primetime basketball television program and the primary broadcast of the elite summer basketball leagues in New York City, featuring Hoops In The Sun at Orchard Beach and Dyckman Basketball League in Washington Heights.
It airs in a half hour block on the MSG Network in the United States and it is filmed in New York City. The first episode of SummerBall NY was aired on Monday, June 26, 2006.
A game of the week from the various leagues, highlights, as well as features on the commissioners of the leagues will be featured throughout the season.
MSG rebranded on October 5, 2006, with a new logo, new graphics and the removal of Network from promotion of the network's name. In upcoming months, more entertainment-oriented programming also aired on the network. This programming included concerts and professional boxing and wrestling cards that have taken place at Madison Square Garden or Radio City Music Hall in the past and continue to occur to this day. MSG has already premiered shows tangentially related to basketball, but with an entertainment-theme, such as Summerball NY.
The 2007 edition of Summerball NY began airing on the MSG Network on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 5:30pm ET. It was originally slated to air on June 28, 2007, but was pushed back to July 6, 2007, due to the 2007 NBA Draft show that was being aired on the network.
