Sumayyah bint Khayyat (Arabic: سمية بنت خياطّ‎) was the mother of the well-known early Muslim Ammar ibn Yasir.

The earliest form of the story is found in Ibn Ishaq who narrates that she was killed for bieng a Muslim. [1]

In another place [2] Ibn Ishaq (page 229) tells about people calling Ammar "Ibn Sumayya" which is odd (Ammar should be called Ibn Yasir) but not unheard of. From this his mothers name was deduced.
