Suma-ket

Suma-Ket is a fictional character in Marvel Comics created by Bob Harris and Jae Lee. Suma-Ket first appeared in Namor I # 35. He is a foe of the inconic comic book character, Prince Namor, and he kills Namor in the following issue of the series. He is an ancient demon sorcerer, warrior mage, and king of the Unforgiven Dead.

Suma-Ket's tribe comes from north of Atlantis. They claimed to be wise men come to save Atlantis from the Faceless Ones. Suma-Ket, a messianic warrior mage, and his tribe did defeat the Faceless Ones. Then the Atlanteans slew their king and made Suma-Ket king of Atlantis. Later, the seemingly-messianic Suma-Ket began to turn into a demonic tyrant, built a temple to dark gods, and raised the Unforgiven Dead. He ruled a dark and murderous Atlantis. The Atlantean Lords and Neptune were able to drive Suma-Ket out, but not kill him.

Suma-Ket returned to Atlantis in Namor I # 36 and 37. Namor was killed battling Suma-Ket, who impaled him on his sacred blade. But Namor was revived by Father Neptune, the deity worshipped by Atlanteans. They battled again with Namor killing Suma-Ket by plunging Neptune's sacred trident into Suma-Ket's chest.

Suma-Ket is a sorcerer and necromancer who can direct spirits and raise and control the dead. Suma-Ket also possesses superhuman strength, endurance, agility, reflexes, healing, and durability. He was significantly less strong than Namor, lifting approximately 20 tons (more when in water), but far more durable, able to withstand repeated blows by Namor and even Neptune. His body is adapted to aquatic life. Since becoming a demon, Suma-Ket has developed horns and claws and does not breath or age. He can only be caged or destroyed by enormous forces such as the Sacred Tident of Neptune. Suma-Ket possesses a number of magical abilities, including casting spells and protective wards by gesture and more difficult magic by more arduous rites. Suma-Ket has shown that he has ready access to the following magic-based abilities: communion with the dead, blasts of heat and destructive mystical energy, healing, projecting thoughts, mind reading, conjuring objects, and levitation.

Suma-Ket can summon (or return to mystical storage) his indestructible Sacred Blade, a sacred scrying crystal allowing him to view and open portals to other places, and Suma-Ket's most powerful attack, his mystic Dark Trident that can fire devastating magical energy that can turn a building into dust.

Suma-Ket can also summon monsters from the depths of the oceans.
