Summit tunnel fire: shaft 8 outlet (foreground), shaft 9 outlet (background). Above the horizon at the right of the picture, smoke coming out of shaft 10 can just be seen in the background

Both shafts have an internal diameter of about 3 metres (10 feet), so the flames are about 12 metres (40 feet) high.
