Sultanganj is a city and a notified area in Bhagalpur district in the Indian state of Bihar.

As of 2001 India census[1], Sultanganj had a population of 41,812. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Sultanganj has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 60%, and female literacy is 43%. In Sultanganj, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
