[edit] History
Construction began in 1960 under the Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) and was completed in 1962. The bridge was officially opened by the late Sultan of Johor, Almarhum Sultan Ismail and is officially named Jambatan Sultan Ismail. To help cover the construction costs, the bridge was once a toll bridge for a short period.
