Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (SAHH) is a USD 150 million public hospital in Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia. The Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital was previously named Sungai Petani Hospital. Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital is named after Kedah's current Sultan, Sultan Abdul Halim.
After the opening, the new Sungai Petani Hospital faced many problems, most notably the closure of its Neonatal Unit because of plumbing problems and negligent deaths commonly present in public hospitals throughout the country. The medical staff as well as the general staff are under trained and are often unable to cope with the patients.
On the 6th of March, the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital once again made the headlines when a 15- year-old Indian girl, V.Monishaa died because of negligence of the Hospital medical staff to provide treatment for the girl. The girl was refused an ambulance service and was told to go to another hospital to seek treatment. The Staffs are also known to be racially motivated when providing treatment to patients.
