Sullivant Avenue

Sullivant Avenue is a street in Columbus, Ohio, [United States]], running east to west. It starts at the western city limits, and runs until near downtown. Sullivant Avenue has many neighborhoods alongside it.

Sullivant Avenue is named for Sullivant family, among the earliest residents of the area. During the Civil War, present-day Sullivant Avenue was the southern boundary of the military prison camp, Camp Chase. There is now a Confederate cemetery there.

Sullivant Avenue has received a bad reputation for being a dangerous area in Columbus due to murders in the neighborhoods alongside it.[citation needed] Sullivant Avenue is in Precincts 10, 19, and 8 of the Columbus Division of Police.[citation needed]
