Stanley Cup Bracket

While the new one seems to have not been accepted, I wanted to stop by and say "great job" though. It obviously took some work, and that is very commendable. Keep up the great work around here, and I'm sure we'll be seeing each other around the playoffs page over the next several weeks. :) Jmlk17 19:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

I would actually say go ahead and change to your version today but keep an eye on how big the page is before and after you have converted them all. As others mentioned I would leave off the assists option though. -Djsasso (talk) 22:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Hi Sukh. Just saw your edit [1], and dropped in to say you hello... --Bhadani (talk) 03:24, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Mr. Gangadhar Bandani, thank you for the kind greetings. Hope you are doing well today. --Sukh17 TCE 03:39, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Out of curiosity!

Hello Ajjay, I am not the same user as Sukh. I have only made edits using this username, Sukh17, and perhaps several edits through various IP addresses when I am not logged in. Anyhow, best greetings to you, and have a great day! --Sukh17 TCE 16:01, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

NHL Bracket

I saw your proposed redesign of the NHL playoff bracket. I was wondering if you could help me implement a less radical redesign that I think would be extremely helpful. I like the basic design of the current template, with no lines between the QF and SF rounds, but then lines after that to indicate that the pairings thereafter are "fixed." I also like that the teams are ordered 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5 in the QFs, regardless of who advances to the SFs. I would like one change to be made: stretch the SF brackets to be flush with the top and bottom of the QF brackets. I was reading over last year's playoff discussion board, and discussions branching off of it, and one poster put it best: the QF round should visually be a "pool" that the SF teams are drawn from, instead of being drawn to suggest that the pairings are pre-ordained (as in the NBA). Someone who was prominently involved with the discussion last year seems to have disappeared, but to have done a lot of good work on something like this idea; you can see it in this Sandbox: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Z4ns4tsu/Sandbox3. The only fault I have with that draft is that the Conference Final brackets don't look like they're centered within their Conference bracket (unless this is an optical illusion). Otherwise, I think that represents essentially the ideal form of what the template ought to look like given the current format. Unfortunately, I don't have any proficiency with editing the templates, so I thought you might be able to help (if you agree with my points above). Your work on the proposed and withdrawn NHL bracket indicates you have substantial proficiency in this skill, so I thought I would approach you to see if it was something you might like to work on. Let me know what you think. MrArticleOne (talk) 02:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

2008 nhl playoffs

Why'd you change the layout? It was sooo much better the old way. 24.184.206.83 (talk) 19:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

NHL playoff bracket

Not sure if I'm msging the right person, but you seem to be one of the main editors of the NHL 2008 Playoffs page. I really liked the bracket for the teams with seed numbers and colors. I was looking for a printable version so I could keep it near my workstation and update it everyday by filling in scores etc. I couldn't find any on the web so I made my own in excel largely based on the one for Wiki. I ended up spending some time on it and would like to share it. Let me know if Wiki would be a good place to do that.

Diacritics on the Ice Hockey articles

Hello Sukh17. I suggest you contact RGTraynor & Administrators Djsasso, Resolute; concerning this subject. They're better communicators then I. GoodDay (talk) 23:22, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Playoff format

Your idea seems perfect to me and should be applied to 2008 NBA Playoffs. Great work! ● 8~Hype @ 20:58, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind words 8-Hype. I have delayed replacing the templates as I am unsure of their acceptance by the editors of the page, as the first day I replaced the template, it was fairly promptly followed by its removal and restoration of the previous template. Additionally, you are the only user to have actually commented on either the section on the talk page of 2008 NBA Playoffs and the NBA WikiProject. If you feel it is acceptable, considering your apparent reputability in the particular WikiProject, you may make that decision if necessary. Thanks. Sukh17 Talk 09:31, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Quite frankly, this template still needs some changes. I have told User:LOL, who is a very good editor, to fix the problems on his talk page. Maybe you can help, as well. ● 8~Hype @ 12:24, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Some of your concerns have already been addressed beforehand, and there are some simple solutions to the others. Anyhow, you can check out my reply to your comment on LOL's talk page. You can also check out this page to see if you like that general format for the scores better than what is on NBAbox. That format was actually my original idea, but I had a lot of complications with the code, as you will readily see when showing and hiding the summary.
I will be trying to work on implementing some minor changes based on your suggestions and the suggestions of any other users are they become present. And as always, any other comments are appreciated. However, I will probably not get around to implementing too many major template overhauls or changes for the next week or so, as I am currently under a lot of time pressure and stress with concern to real-life events. I will be checking Wikipedia regularly, and I can offer some insight or direction if either you or another user needs help navigating code from either the current template or from my userspace. Thanks. Sukh17 Talk 13:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
As I said, User:LOL can help out if you don't have time. And I like your template more than the general scores, it would be wise, however, to add the best of the other templates to yours. ● 8~Hype @ 13:23, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I have changed expressions such as "Game 1: Recap" to "G1: Recap", as the frequent use of the word "Game" is too irritating. I also added more space between "time" and "recap". ● 8~Hype @ 10:40, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Why did you revert my edits? It looked much tidier than it is right now. ● 8~Hype @ 10:44, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
There should be a little space between the game number and the recap link, as "Game 4: 8:00PM" is standing all too close and "4: 8:00" in particular is too irritating. The game numbers are also not lining up correctly one below the other, same goes for the team score. ● 8~Hype @ 10:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Just another suggestion: Maybe it would be better to put the game number first, then the date and recap/time? ● 8~Hype @ 11:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
It looks fine for now, but following should still be fixed:
  • The word "Game" should be renamed to "G", since it shouldn't irritate the viewer. This unimportant word is just mentioned too often.
  • The has to be a small space between "Game 1" and "Recap". When you have the time instead of the recap link, it will definitely irritate, as everything is too close (Game 1: 8:00 PM).
The scores by quarter have to be fixed somehow. It still doesn't like the way it should be, but it is a nice start. ● 8~Hype @ 15:02, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
