Sukadji Ranuwihardjo

Sukadji Ranuwihardjo (November 9, 1931August 11, 2007) was an Indonesian academic and former president of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) from 1973 to 1981.[1]

Sukadji was born on November 9, 1931 in Blitar, East Java[1] in the Dutch East Indies (present day Indonesia). He married his wife, Soetarlinah, who was a psychologist.[1] Sukadji was an avid jogger, according to the Jakarta Post.[1]

Sukadji began his career as the head of the accounting and budget division at the Indonesian state railroad company, PT KAI, from 1957 until 1959. Following his work at the railroad Sukadji became a lecturer at the National Resilience Institute.[1] He also served as an assistant the Indonesian trade ministry.[1]

Sukadji served as dean of the economics department of Gadjah Mada University before he was appointed president of the school in 1973. He served as president of Gadjah Mada University, which is located in Yogyakarta, until 1981.[1]

Sukadji died on August 11, 2007.[1] A viewing was held at Balairung Hall located at Gadjah Mada University, according to the head of the university's public relations department, Suryo Baskoro.[1] Sukadji was buried at Gadjah Mada University's school burial grounds at Kawansan Sawitsari, Sleman.[1]
