Suhas Gopinath was born in Bangalore, India. At the age of 12, he launched a web site called CoolHindustan.com[1] but when a black hat hacked the logo to "CoolPakistan," Mr. Gopinath reportedly abandoned it.[2]

When an American company invited him to their headquarters so he could maintain their web site, he is said to have declined on the ground that he was not interested in serving a non-Indian company.[3] However in 2000, at the age of 14 Mr. Gopinath traveled to the United States to found Globals Inc. in San Jose, California, as the laws in India did not allow a minor to set up a company. He is recognized as "the world's youngest CEO" because he was the youngest ever person to incorporate a S Corporation based company at the age of 14.[4][5] In 2003 Globals Inc. lost a business deal with SingT Inc, a BPO company in Singapore reportedly because the then 17-year-old CEO was too young to sign a memorandum of understanding.[6]. As of 2007, Globals Inc claims to have served more than 200 clients worldwide through offices in some 11 countries.[7]

In 2005 Mr. Gopinath was one of the finalists of the Infosys Education World Young Achievers Award.[8]. The same year he was the youngest among the 175 recipients of the state's Rajyotsava Award.[9] Mr. Gopinath is also a brand ambassador for PETA.[10]

On December 2, 2007, The European Parliament and International Association for Human Values conferred a “Young Achiever Award” on Mr. Gopinath at the European Parliament, Brussels. He was invited to address the European Parliament and businessmen assembled in that parliament..[11].

Mr. Gopinath was announced as a “Young Global Leader” for 2008-2009 by the World Economic Forum, Davos. In that position he would be involved in development programs across the world, and he would be studying leadership at the Harvard University. He is reported to be the youngest YGL in the World Economic Forum's history.[12].
