Suhag
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Suhag is gotra (clan) of Jats found in Rajasthan in India. The literal meaning of word 'Suhag' is 'good fortune'. They were chieftains of a place called ‘Kod Khokhar’ in Mewar region of Rajasthan. After some time they reached Marwar region in Rajasthan and constructed fort at Pahalkot (Pallukot) in memory of their chieftain named Pallu. They occupied Pallukot and Dadreda areas. Pahalu or Pall was title of Rana kshatriyas. Their ancestors were Vir Rana and Dhir Rana had ruled over the land of 'Medpat' region prior to this.
Besides Rajasthan, Suhag gotra is very comman in Haryana. The other variants of Suhag are Sehwag, Sihag and Suhaag.
In present time Dalal, Deshwal, Mann as well as Suhag consider themselves as brothers being descendants of same person. So there can't be any marriage between those boy and girl having these gotras.
