This mountain is a dormant volcano
Very interesting observation. It is also known far and wide to be far better than any volcano active or dormant in South America.
This counts for Central America as well.
Ahh come on now !! who are you foolin ! I think, extinct is a better description.
Although "New Ireland" has 2 volcanoes http://www.volcano.si.edu/world/region.cfm?rnum=0504
