[edit] The stealing of the sugar bowl

He has indicated that he and his lover Beatrice stole the sugar bowl, which may have been a contributing factor to the schism amongst the V.F.D.

I am pretty sure he indicated that he stole the sugar bowl from Beatrice somewhere. Isn't that right? Kit might have been in on that paticular plot too or somebody ... tis so confusing. This statement definately needs to be sourced though. --Nerd42 (talk) 21:56, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

    • He says in one of the books that he stole the sugar bowl from Esme, but in The Penultimate Peril we learn that Esme believes that Beatrice stole it from her.

[edit] V. F. D. initials

The bowl has VFD initials, namely "vessel for disaccharides."

Where do we learn this?

[edit] Sugar Bowl's Contents?

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET READ THE END/CHAPTER 14!

My theory (which is most likely accurate) is as follows. Since the Sugar Bowl is most likely in Lemony's Posession, I beleive it is currently empty. It contained the literal "Series of Unfortunate Events" and, of course, "everything eventually washes up [on the shores of the island]" as stated numerous times throughout The End. Of course, at one time or another it was lost at sea and ended up there. However as the Sugar Bowl's contents were kept secret, Volunteers and Villains alike who encountered it did not know it is/was empty. I don't know how this can relate to the Islanders who were infected with the Medusim Mylecudoid (sp?) or the "Great Unknown" but neither really interfere with the theory itself. The Baudelaires most likely chronicled details of their story into A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Lemony seeked it out, and thus the series is considered a selection from the true Series of Unfortunate Events. [edit] FINALLY can be laid to rest (I think)

In THE END, in the quotation beginning on the bottom of page 276 and going to 277, it states that Beatrice is hiding a small amount of the antidote in a vessel... she is then cut off. I think that this clearly implies that the sugar bowl contained antidote to the fungus. Any thoughts?--SweetNeo85 03:59, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. If Wasabi/Horseradish was in the sugar bowl, why was it so improtant, hmmm? I still go with my theory (above). The Series of Unfortunate events can be seen as an antidote to the pain and misery of hte world. Timekeeper 00:17, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible Origin

I think that the Sugar Bowl (which is a MacGuffin) is a reference to The Bowl by J. L. Sneider which has the same book-loving attitude of V.F.D. and was first published in The MacGuffin magazine, Special Issue, 2000 Read Here The story contains 'a small blue, Raku-glazed sugar bowl that fit in the palm of his hand'--SurrealWarrior 13:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Interesting theory, sounds quite plausible. Please sign your comments. TheMadBaron 17:19, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What the Sugar Bowl REALLY contained

Sugar. Think about it. VFD'ers had come to prefer tea as bitter as wormwood. The sugar from the sugarbowl would have made that tea (presumably an antidote to the fungus) more palatable. :-)

Sign your comments, dude. Also, then why was the sugar bowl so revered? Sugar could just be found anywhere :PTimekeeper 13:51, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Maybe if one was to find themselves in a situation in which they were poisoned, they wouldn't have the time to look for sugar, so it would be good to carry it around with them. Anyway, its use is never mentioned in the books, but we can create a section named 'Assumptions of What the Sugar Bowl's Use Might Be', and include some -verifiable- assumptions about it.--Orthologist 20:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Optional: Sugar Bowl

I think that a sugar bowl is added to the V.F.D. disguse kit list for a reason explained in one of the books: It is a good place to hide things.--SurrealWarrior 13:16, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yet Another 'Contents of Sugar Bowl' Theory

The bowl could contain copies of the thirteen pages of the Snicket File. Get a bowl and put thirteen folded A4 papers in it. Lemony says that the contents would clear his name of arson charges so presumably it'd be a file or piece of evidence. 13 pieces of paper would be rather light so could float down a river. --Whap 18:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
