[edit] Photo deletion
Hi. See IfD for details about deletion policy. --JW1805 (Talk) 23:43, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Why did you schedule my personal photo for deletion?! --Torourkeus 02:45, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Yeah, I wanted to delete Maria2.jpg, but didn't know how. So it's cool with me that it's been nominated for deletion. Do I have to do anything else to have it deleted, or the process is now automatic? Thanks! Raystorm 10:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Photo deletion, Image:Gjirokastra-houses.jpg
Fixed. Not sure why it wasn't showing the CC license, because I thought I selected it when I posted it. Anyway, it's been corrected. Acarvin 15:00, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chronological Order
Hey Sue!
Hope I'm not intruding, but I noticed that you were changing the order of the medals, and undoing my changes (probably without even knowing it!) Anyway, this subject came up in Chronological record item order? on the MedalTop template talk, and some of us figured that, because the medals are easily distinguishable, but the years are not, that we would sort by year first, and then medal type. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! tiZom(2¢) 00:17, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cross-country skiing vs. cross country skiing
Hello, Sue Anne. I replied to your objection to my speedy renaming of Category:Cross country skiers at the 2006 Winter Olympics to Category:Cross-country skiers at the 2006 Winter Olympics right under your objection: [1]. I don't know if that is a correct use of the speedy page, but I did not know any better. In any case, I included a number of links in my rebuttal, including the Torino Olympics official results page and various Wikipedia pages and indices, as well as links to the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary for "cross-country" and "cross country". Please reply here or on my talk page so that we may come to an agreement on this issue. Thank you, and best regards. -- Mareklug talk 07:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- This was delisted from Speedy as contested, so I moved my nomination (and all the conversation that followed it) to the regular categories for renaming page: [2] -- Mareklug talk 04:46, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Stop Deleting my Images
Hi Sue Anne. Could you please not be a ninny and try to delete my images. They provide a useful service to Wikipedia, and the second would stand up in court if it's challenged by the sledder herself. Having an image of the person improves the article, please don't go out of your way to delete perfectly good images. --Nick Dillinger 20:44, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for your help with the unfree-copyrighted image issue. In case there is any confusion, keep in mind that Fair use is a defense one can claim when one infringes upon copyright. All of the material we use under Wikipedia:Fair use is infringing on copyright; we are claiming that our use of it can be legally justified. That said, professional photography taken from news agencies is actually a bad idea per Wikipedia:Fair use criteria #2. Let me know if you have any more questions, and consider checking out Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use if you are interested. Thanks. Jkelly 22:27, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shaun White
Hi. Thanks for swapping the photo format. I wasn't aware of that. Incidentally, http://www.usocpressbox.org has USOC portraits of all 2004 and 2006 team members, which would help illustrate at least 100 or 200 US athelte bios. I've been going through them and chopping off the tag on the bottom before adding them as promo pics, as stated on the licensing. Regards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! 06:12, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cross-server links
I find the cross-server links are improperly marked up in many articles like missing opening colons. Is this a typo-epidemic? Or am I meddling with some kinda protocol here? I bothered to change some dozen links in Tamil_Nadu and United_Arab_Emirates Anwar saadat 19:56, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CSD-G1
Hi Sreed1234! You've tagged a number of images for speedy deletion under criterion G1 - Patent nonsense, i.e. no meaningful content, unsalvageably incoherent page. None of the images were patent nonsense; it's hard to judge whether a photograph has meaningful content, and impossible for a photo to be incoherant (although, as my holiday snaps attest, I try my best!). I'm afraid we don't have a speedy criterion that covers deleting an image that is useless and they need to go to IfD instead.
I've removed the speedy tags as the tag isn't justified. However, the images were all source-less, so I've put them into NLD for today. Cheers! ➨ ❝REDVERS❞ 11:40, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Sue! Thanks for your understanding. Criteria for Speedy Delete are hellish things. They're always too tight in one direction and too loose in another and everybody ties themselves in knots over them at some point (indeed, I'm currently engaged in a painful debate about CSD-R3 (pointless redirects), having shamefacedly undeleted 30 things today that I deleted yesterday - and, to prove the point, of the 3 editors who joined me, one won't undelete, one has undeleted and one has asked for advice... so these things are clearly, er, not very clear sometimes!). :o) ➨ ❝REDVERS❞ 22:13, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

I have determined not to get in an edit war again - but Gellerson reverts contrary to the views expressed on the talk page - can you help??? Trödel 21:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I misunderstood what Trödel was doing - and have left his edit as-is, except for removing a duplicative heading and fixing spelling. Congratulations, sorry others beat me to it. :) I had something important come up when I was in the middle of leaving a congratulatory message for you. I recommend being conservative with the admin tools especially at first. Re-read the relevant policy before you take any actions, and for anything you're particularly unsure of, put it up on the administrator's noticeboard. Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to redirect your old user and talk pages to the new location to avoid confusion. - Taxman Talk 11:23, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

If you're suggesting that I got the picture from the Olympic.org page (which I did, so you're good!), I thought that everything on that page was free use. [edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

[edit] Michael Gruber and Matti Nykänen
1. The reason I put Michael Gruber with one medal in the Team Nordic Combined event is if you look at the IW link Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics, specifically it shows that in the team event at the 2002 Winter Olympics, it shows a Christoph Gruber with a bronze and Michael Gruber winning the Gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics. If they are the same person, then I understand what you had done, I appreciate what you did, and I will change Christoph's name to Michael's. If they are not, then we need to change that back to how I had set it up.
2. In regards to medals, I have always believed in putting Gold Medals first regardless if it were in later Olympics compared from other medals earned in earlier Olympics. This was why I moved Nykänen's silver medal from the 1984 Winter Olympics down to the bottom on his medal table. I have seen this done on many other athletes as well. For example, Athlete X competed in four Olympics from Seoul (1988) to Sydney (2000), earning 8 medals, including 4 Golds (2 in 1992, 1 in 1996, and 1 in 2000), 3 Silvers (2 in 1988, 1 in 1996), and 1 Bronze (2000). I would put the table shown below:
Olympic medal record | |||
Women's X | |||
---|---|---|---|
Gold | 1992 Barcelona | Event X | |
Gold | 1992 Barcelona | Event Y | |
Gold | 1996 Atlanta | Event Y | |
Gold | 2000 Sydney | Event X | |
Silver | 1988 Seoul | Event X | |
Silver | 1988 Seoul | Event Y | |
Silver | 1996 Atlanta | Event X | |
Bronze | 2000 Sydney | Event Y |
Your thoughts on this. Chris 12:31, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
- Adjusted Michael Gruber in the Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics and at Nordic combined at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Will put Christoph Gruber up for deletion since they are one and the same. Chris 13:23, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

- This is a follow up to Matti Nykänen. I am in the the process of overhauling the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, inlcuding creating the individual championships, and plan on adding the world championship medals to their Olympic medals (if they have them) in the near future, similar to what was done on Carl Lewis in athletics as an example. I plan on putting this as the years he has them, but I will leave them in the gold-silver-bronze format per how it was already set up. Your thoughts on this. Chris 22:30, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi Sue Anne — just a heads-up on the edits you made to 2010 Winter Olympics. The recent editor of much of that section is User:Roitr/sockpuppeter, who has also been causing a lot of grief on the Olympic sports and Demonstration sport pages. You might want to be prepared to revisit that page to look for reverts to your edits (which, by the way, are excellent references). This user will often revert to her/his version without regard for superior references. Andrwsc 23:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Apprentice 4
I really hate to talk about a controversy again and again, but after thinking it over and over regarding about the outcome of The Apprentice 4, I have some takes that I have to declare:
- Being fiercely loyal to someone may be good but sometimes in business that is not always the case. Remember that Rebecca defended Toral since Rebecca believed what Toral did was right? Jennifer W. believed that Toral should've been fired, but Rebecca believed in Toral's abilities. Apparently, I felt that the women didn't get along at all. However, I think that's somewhat a firing flaw, one of the reasons why I believe that "Fired" fitted better on Rebecca's application profile than "Not Hired" (The Apprentice Rules also believes that). Impartiability and not being fiercely loyal to someone is what I think Mr. Trump wants as his Apprentice.
- Not winning a task even with super hard-to-work-with people is also a problem. Randal can manage and ensure that hard-to-work-with people contribute to the wins, and he even showed that he can also win a task even with hard-to-work-with people like Clay for example. Rebecca, though, I felt that the only way she can win is that she has very easy-to-work-with people, strong contributors (ala Randal), whatever I can think of. While Mr. Trump felt that he wanted to also hire Rebecca, I felt that Mr. Trump nearly made a fatal mistale by doing so, because the key in hiring an apprentice is the ability to lead hard-to-work with people, give lots of directions, and pull the team together. That's another reason why I felt that "Fired" fit better on Rebecca's app status.
- I think that the Audience doesn't get the real reasons why Randal didn't recommend a double-hiring, and I felt that Mr. Trump shouldn't have proceeded in hiring Rebecca under any circumstances. I don't know why the audience booed at Randal's recommendation for Mr. Trump not to hire Rebecca. After looking at the proven results of Rebecca and Randal, I think that another reason yet Rebecca should've been labeled as "Fired" is because Rebecca, as I really hate to state this after the edit war, lacks substance, and substance is something of a serious matter I take.
- I also only permitted the South African decision to go on the general Apprentice page a while ago, but I felt that Tokyo Sexwale made a HUGE MISTAKE in hiring two people, as I really have to be harsh on this as a double-hiring would equate to a really bad decision not because of jealousy purposes, but also CEOs have to really set up a budget for its workforce as well, and I felt that Mr. Sexwale didn't consider his company's budget during the hiring of the finale.
Just my 2 cents. No further major edits done as of this time, with the exception of my closing thoughts of The Apprentice 4. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 01:23, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Block of 219.91.203.71
Did you read the message he left on my talk page? He could barely get through a sentence without insulting Vesther in some manner. His block wasn't for the tralala stuff, it was for his response when asked to play nice. Not to mention the intense hostility being directed at the blocking admin now.--Crossmr 03:13, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately there is no excuse for incivility on wikipedia, and no place for "He started it". This user is showing extreme hostility in every talk message he leaves regardless of who its towards. As for not leaving a civlity tag on vesther's page, I only came across his comment. I didn't investigate into the whole exchange (which I'll now do). But as I said, regardless of what was said to him, its no excuse for his retaliatory behaviour. I've been dealing with a user who refues to take responsibility for his behaviour for some time now. We don't need to add to that problem by having more users all to willing to do the same.--Crossmr 03:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well I've had a look at the edits and edits summaries over at Apprentice 4 and a look at the talk dialogue between them. While Vesther did refer to his chat as tralala and useless as well, I can see the IP being uncivil long before it got to that, with this edit summary [3]. It doesn't excuse Vester's commment and I'll mention the same thing to him about choosing better words, but the users edit summaries and aggressiveness here just isn't appropriate.--Crossmr 03:36, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Wow, look to what all you are admitting Crossmr. Firstly you admit to giving me a warning without even understanding the issue, without even reading vesther's message and reading mine and without giving him a warning.
Next message you just write that dont use tralala.
so, till ur second message u did not even read or understand the issue and you gave 1 warning and 1 reply?
wow, amazing, thats how u admins operate on wiki these days.
next thing, i am blocked.
and then u accuse me of hostility after blocking me?
this is ridiculous.
Sue, thanks for ur support.
I agree that statement was civil, thats why i did not say that to vesther, saying, now that would be uncivil. also, when people complain about u to admins and admins give u an unfair warning, a little hostility and exasperation is to be expected.
this is an equal playing field not an admin fiefdom.
looking at this display of admins on wiki, any person on wiki will indeed understand now what wiki has come too!! lol.
this is a classic case of abuse of admin priveleges.
these power-mad admins issue warnings and blocks without any rhyme or reason.
just imagine till 2 messages, crossmr did not even read the messages behind the issue, SO HOW MUCH DO U THINK roy AA KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AT ALL as he is the one who blocked me even as i was talking to crossmr?
and now after blocking they are analyzing the issue. ridiculous.
any regular person will tell you that THERE IS NO WAY A CASE FOR BLOCKING THAT TOO WITHOUT ANY WARNING OF BEING BLOCKED!!!!
THEY JUST SAID, BE NICE and BLOCKED.
no second warning, no warning of blocking. just blocked.
and now they are justifying it by digging up old issues which were NEVER EVER issues to being with. ridiculous. it reflected extremely badly on these admins. very poor. they know how poor and incompetent they are as admins. shame on them.
really, its because of such admins that wiki is going down the drain.
I am sure such admins have a pattern of abuse in the past. This should be investigated and action taken. This has gone on too far in wiki and it cant be god for wiki.
These admins should be blocked for atleast a week or a month for them to reflect upon how many people they have blocked unfairly and wrongly with gross abuse of admin PRIVELEGES and wiki should take away all their admin rights, they do not deserve them at all.
once again i thank u sue, and upon my above statements, i think it would be fair for u to unblock me.
in any case, even if u dont unblock me, i think i have successfully exposed the intentions and actions of certain admins who thought they could get away with gross abuse of admin priveleges. and i certainly will be complaining about them.

Crud, I was worried about something like that. Could they fall under Fair Use? (I have a hard time with image policy.) --Fang Aili talk 18:37, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've reviewed some of the image policies.. looks like Fair Use does not work here, but maybe Creative Commons would. (Looking at "Hoo"'s usage requirements on her webpage, perhaps one of the CC licenses would be compatible. We could get permission from her, possibly.) If you could hold off on proposing them for deletion at least until Vesperholly gets back online, I'd appreciate it. She may have gotten GFDL permission through an email or something.
- I also noticed that when uploading an image, one of the licensing options is "The copyright holder gave me permission to use this work in Wikipedia articles." If Vesperholly got permission directly from Hoo, does this mean the pictures can stay? Thanks for your help. --Fang Aili talk 20:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I contacted Andrea Chempinski directly via email and she gave me permission to use her photos on Wikipedia: "I do allow Wikipedia to use my photos but they must include "(c) Andrea "Hoo" Chempinski" in the caption of the photo with a link to www.scratchspin.com. So long as this is done you can put photos on whichever skater pages you'd like." Vesperholly 20:28, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Just thought of this: Should I need to go back to Chempinski and specify which license she will release the images under? CC, GFDL, etc? Please do not delete the images until I've gotten further responses from Chempinski - she seems amenable to it. BTW I'm a she. Vesperholly 20:32, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the link. I'm going to e-mail Chempinski right now and see what she wants to do re: licensing. Could you hold off on deleting the images until I receive a response? Much appreciated. Vesperholly 20:35, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Olympic sport capitalization
Hi Sue Anne, I see you're doing a mass edit to replace "Table Tennis" with "Table tennis". Thanks! Do you feel up to also changing "Water Polo" to "Water polo" and "Synchronized Swimming" to "Synchronized swimming"? ;) Andrwsc 03:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Capitalization adjusted
Capitalization is adjusted to template mentioned in message. Chris 11:52, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- All of the templates I created (And some I did not) have been adjusted. I looked at the MOS Capitalization on the rules regarding the capitalization, and I have a question. If someone is a World Champion of something like Formula 1, would you put it at "Formula 1 World Champion" or "Formula 1 world champion?" We may be in a gray area on this that may require further discussion, including the Olympic champions in specific sports and specific events. All of the official Olympic events I have seen from official reports [www.aafla.org (Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, CA)] has the listings of the first letter of the sport capitalized (Athletics as an example) and the events of a specific distance are shown as "Men's 100m" instead of "men's 100m." The same thing would occur with Sailing (formerly Yachting) and their classes, like Tornado (catamaran). Would the event be classified as "Tornado" or "tornado"? Your thoughts on this? [edit] Re: Portal Picture
Thanks for doing that. I know its important to keep up the search for fair use pictures in non-mainspace pages. The problem, I think, with keeping up an Olympic Portal is that the choice of images is very slim, almost to none. Just about all of them are fair use, which is a bother, I know, but we can't really do anything about it. Oh Well. Thanks for being a good wikipedian! [edit] Why it's best to say "Mr. Trump" and more
While both you and I have vehement disagreements in this "Apprentice" article, the reason why I use "Mr. Trump" is because Donald Trump is a business figure, and literally, I'm trying to get the article into a business-style tone as much as possible. Minutae isn't too important as I try to replace the minutae with key elements on what happened (That is why I lose the quotes). That is why Mr. Trump, IMO, should be used. Just saying the last name, IMO, is not respectful at all.
The reason why I capitalize descriptions (i.e. Initial Boardroom) is because when you describe bulleting and bold it (i.e. This bullet vs. This Bullet) with a colon, it needs to be as much attention-grabbing as possible. IMO I really don't think "This bullet" would be much of an attention-grabber. I'm not gonna debate on the capitalization conventions here.
I am extremely harsh on how the bullets are written. For example, "Not hired on season finale" should be "Not hired on television" instead, since the "not hiree" may be considered employment in the future, but is no eligible to reapply for candidacy-ship. Also, The Apprentice is NOT a game show, it is an unusual job interview, so the participants in this show should be called Applicants instead. Also, the bulleting should be summarized (which I strive to do), something that I was not happy about when I saw the first three episodes of the season being too wordy and too descriptive. I watch the wording VERY CAREFULLY.
To conclude, minutae isn't too important, but also how the contents of a bullet should be carefully done. For example, I detested "Alla and Company" since it's vague—people wanted to know who impolitely asked Toral to wear a poorly-designed costume. I checked out the Yahoo! Apprentice pages and saw that Alla, Felisha, Kristi, and Jennifer M. were the ones who impolitely forced Toral to wear the costume.
When it comes to articles, I try to make things as "On-Topic" as I can. I was really frustrated when I saw the Tokyo Sexwale reference lurking in this article, and in order to make things uniform, decided to lose the Tokyo Sexwale reference (IceDrake had a complaint about the Martha Stewart references in this article). Also, since The Apprentice is a Business-style Job Interview marketed as a reality television show, it should be written in a business-style tone. It shouldn't be viewed as an entertainment show, because editors tend to make it an entertaining show simply because of the editing.
I hope this will be the last time both you and I have to debate on this. I don't want to get into an edit war with anyone (after the Rebecca Jarvis debate), but just keep in mind that people shouldn't be watching The Apprentice as means for entertainment, but rather for lessons in the real workplace, since this is a business-oriented reality show. That is why I'm encouraging things to be written as business-like as possible. The applicants themselves can be called by their first name, but Donald Trump should be addressed as Mr. Trump. Just calling him "Trump" or "The Donald" is too entertainment-ish, and is not a good tone to use for any Apprentice article IMO. — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 00:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Your last reply
I really don't like the fact that you assumed very bad faith on my edits. I tried to assume good faith on everyone, but your last message alerted me that you had no faith in me whatsoever. Considering that you consider my capitalization style as being controversial (and the fact that you've unloaded harsh criticism of my capitalization habits), I'm gonna have to debate this at the discussion "Manual of Style (capital letters)". — Vesther (U * T/R * CTD) 02:11, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:AN/I
Even as a cursory regard makes plain—at least to me—that you are correct apropos of many of these style issues, and notwithstanding that your conduct vis-à-vis Vesther seems to have been altogether cordial and reasoned, such that you needn't to defend yourself, you might be interested in commenting on this AN/I thread, in which Vesther, surely not maliciously and ostensibly in view of a good-faith misunderstanding of the meaning of WP:AGF, suggests that you've assumed bad faith relative to his editing. Thought you ought to be aware of the discussion's existence... :) Joe 06:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Take Swift Stern Action against this guy
Hi Sue,
Long time. How are you?
I visit wikipedia only occasionally these days.
I just came across this: [4]
I think you should give Crossmr a stern warning of NPA and CIVIL on his talk page and I think you should remove that despicable PA and uncivil comment(check out the heading/edit of the comment[5] /edit summary /etc.) from royaa's talk page. Or let me know if I should personally give him that warning and remove that despicable comment myself. I would be happy to do that. Thanks.
It seems that Crossmr is acting with a malicious instigative agenda. He keeps rambling on about old things and keeps repeating himself (and his instigations) about them. It seems that he is unable to move on, and let peace reign, and is hung up on old already-settled bloated issues, not to mention non-issues. He seems to want to live in the past. And to think that this guy goes around placing warnings of CIVIL and NPA on other user's talk pages. Talk about missing the plank for the speck. Tsk tsk. LOL. He should pay attention to his own Block Log [6] and history!!!!! lol.
He also needs to learn properly about AGF and pipe down.
His ill-intended comments are obviously malicious and deliberately provocative. But instead of me being provoked, he only serves to amuse me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. But it has to be made clear to him that his uncivil rants are totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I think coming from an admin will make him, a general user, understand better.
Thanks and regards. :)

PS. If first time newbie issues like first time misinformed "vandalism" are brought up, especially from their IPs, almost everyone on wiki would be "old vandals" because almost no one is expected to know wiki rules when they start editing on a whim via google one fine day. HAHAHAHAHA. BITE, AGF etc. Also was looking to merge those accounts and attribution etc. but never really got around to doing it. Though I think I had already mentioned it on one of the accounts user pages and also the edit histories and everything else is so very obvious! I had MYSELF mentioned that those are my accounts in my comments! Not to mention the archive! lol. Seriously, AGF in underlined bold for some people. LOLOL.

Re this edit: is it really helpful to create categories which will never have more than a couple entries? What is the value in creating these categories, when we only have one gold, one silver and a handful of bronze medalists? Guettarda 06:14, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- ? Guettarda 20:21, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

- What is the value of a category with precisely one entry, which is unlikely to have more than one entry? A category that only has one entry because the other articles that belong there haven't yet been made might be ok, but a category (two, actually) that only apply to one person defeats the point of categorisation. What makes Olympic medals different from all other Wikipedia categories?
- You said "it's important to have all the countries represented" - that isn't the issue, the issue is that you have three separate categories for one country, and two of those categories apply to only one person. That doesn't make any sense. Guettarda 02:21, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed you changed from upper case to lower case in Template:Olympic Champions Shooting RFP. Do you think we should change all the ISSF shooting events article titles accordingly? When I wrote them, I just copied the event names, cases and all, from article 3.3.1 of the ISSF General Regulations. I am however uncertain as to what Wikipedia policy says on the matter. Do you have a clue? It seems most other sport events like Long jump (which is of course more describing in nature) and Modern pentathlon are all lower-case, while a few are not, like Super Giant Slalom skiing. -- Jao 12:03, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article about Wikipedia Users
Hello,
I am a freelance writer working on an article about the wide array of people who make Wikipedia their life, their passion, their pastime. Wikipedia “addicts” if you will. I’m looking for people just willing to tell their story of how they got sucked into the intellectual whirlwind that is Wikipedia; how you got started editing, how the obsession grew, and what you spend your time focusing on these days? Do you write articles from scratch? Is your main push toward one particular type of article? Do you patrol for typos and errors, or spend your time diligently fixing vandalism? Do you take part in the “social aspects” of Wikipedia; engaging in animated discussions or decorating your user page with all sorts of internet memes? Have you ever forced yourself to take a “Wikipedia break”? If so, what’s your 20/20 hindsight on the obsession? Basically I’m just trying to get an idea of what it’s like for various Wikipedia “addicts.” If you are interested in participating, please email me at brianwrites@gmail.com
If anybody else, other than this user is interested in participating, feel free to email me as well. This article is intended to be a light informational piece, nothing too heavy or controversial, just merely introducing readers to a subculture that they likely had no idea existed. So please don’t email me with your conspiracy theories, or your grudge against the Wikipedia hierarchy… unless it directly applies to your overall experience with the site. This article is about the USERS, not about the pros and cons of the site itself.
Thanks,

[edit] The Biggest Loser: UK Season 1
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article The Biggest Loser: UK Season 1, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:The Biggest Loser: UK Season 1. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. _ _ A colleague has questioned the wisdom and/or propriety of my messages to you and to 14 others, each a retention-voter in a previous LoPbN AfD and/or recently showing heavy interest in LoPbN. For the benefit of the eventual caller of the current AfD, and secondarily as it reflects on my individual behavior and judgement as a Wikipedian, i have undertaken to place this 2nd message before you and the three others who have not acknowledged my respective earlier msgs to you-all.
_ _ I defended my actions in part by asserting the responses to my talk-page messages do not support misgivings on the part of those recipients, while admitting that the non-responding recipients might have been inhibited from responding at least in part by just such misgivings. At my own initiative, i am making this second contact to ensure that at least knowledge of the process question informs your choice to remain silent or comment on the AfD subpage.
_ _ The AfD nomination is stamped 15:44, 31 December 2006; 5x24 hours expires at 15:44, 5 January 2007, approximately (as i post this on the AfD sub-page) whoops, an hour ago, with closer attention of course more likely after midnite UTC, 8 hours hence. I assume potential closers will give it at least a full day from now if any of you have not saved edits between now and then.

Hi Sue Anne, welcome back to the Olympic articles! I saw some of your recent AWB edits and have a request. I see that you have been removing wikilinks from headings (such as ===[[Speed skating at the 1984 Winter Olympics|Speed skating]]=== changed to ===Speed skating=== for example). I support this change, but can you please add the link back again, as a call to {{Main|Speed skating at the 1984 Winter Olympics}} on the first line after the heading? I don't want to lose the wikilink altogether. Thanks!
PS: I should mention that your experimentation with {{Infobox CountryOlympics}} on Kenya at the 2000 Summer Olympics was an inspiration for me to create infoboxes for all 3000+ "Nation at the year Olympics" articles! Andrwsc 01:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Hannah_Teter.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Hannah_Teter.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Witty_Christine.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Witty_Christine.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information.
You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 10:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Infobox CountryOlympics
Hi, I just noticed that a template you created, Template:Infobox CountryOlympics, is unused and appears to be abandoned. I've marked it as deprecated, meaning it'll be deleted in two weeks' time if nobody objects. If there's a reason to keep it please leave a note at Wikipedia talk:Deprecated and orphaned templates and feel free to remove the {{deprecated}} tag from the template. Thanks. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mebrahtom Keflezighi.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mebrahtom Keflezighi.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:45, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Charles E. Crutchfield III
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Charles E. Crutchfield III, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 17:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Charles E. Crutchfield III
An editor has nominated Charles E. Crutchfield III, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charles E. Crutchfield III and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ultimatefightnight2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ultimatefightnight2.jpg.
Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:39, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
