Sue Beardsmore

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Susan (Sue) Beardsmore was a long-term BBC television presenter who fronted the local news and current affairs programme BBC Midlands Today, broadcast from Birmingham, England.

Born in 1955 in Bedford she attended the independent Dame Alice Harpur School in Bedford, then studied for a BA in English and Politics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and also went to Luton College of Higher Education.

She joined the BBC in 1977 as secretary to the Manager of Operations and started presenting Midlands Today in 1987 until February 2003. Viewers complained when she left. She currently works as a public space co-ordinator at BBC Birmingham in the city's Mailbox complex. When BBC radio internet broadcasts of live events (e.g. football matches), breach copyright guidelines, an announcement, voiced by Sue, is played instead.

She married Steven Pile and has a son (born February 1985). She received an MA in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester in February 1999.
