In 1962, Sudan TV started broadcasting to the audience only in Khartoum state that include Khartoum city, Omdurman and Khartoum Bahry. One year after that the idea of having a Sudanese TV supported by General Mohmaed Talat Fareed who signed a contract with Berlin Radio to provide technical support and cameras and recorders to Sudan TV.

In the seventies, Sudan TV stepped further by expanding its transmission range when the General company for wireless and wired Telecommunications and the Stelite station built. In 1976, Sudan TV started transmitting colored pictures.
