FAIR USE RATIONALE: This is the front cover of Sublime's major label debut album "Sublime." It is the album that brought Sublime to international acclaim, and on its cover is depicted Brad Nowell on whose back is tattooed the word "Sublime." This image is used to illustrate a portion of the biography page on Brad Nowell. It is relevant to his biography page because it illustrates the single most icon and historically important image of Brad Nowell, the image on the album cover that brought him to fame after his death. Because Brad Nowell died shortly before the publication of this album, it is impossible to recreate any image of Brad Nowell in a "free" context. This image is absolutely necessary in order to create an educational and comprehensive biographical article about Brad Nowell.
This image is of a cover of an audio recording, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher of the album or the artist(s) which produced the recording or cover artwork in question. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of such covers
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
