Sua vida me pertence ("Your life belongs to me" in Portuguese) was the first in a tradition of telenovelas in Brazil. Broadcast by TV Tupi in São Paulo in black and white in 1951, it pioneered the genre worldwide, and featured Brazil's first on-screen kiss.
