Nice job on fake book. I put it up as a stub hoping it would attract somebody like you! DavidWBrooks 21:42, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I didn't write the text, I just merged Fake book and Fake Book (note the capital 'b') and rearranged some sentences. Stw 11:51, 22 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Hi, see the Village pump (top) for the problem with the images. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon. - snoyes 21:22, 15 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I found "quefrency" and "cepstrum" in Musical Applications of Microprocessors, which I've since lost but would love to get back and build something. "Lifter" a friend told me, "gamnitude" I didn't know about until when I wrote the article, and "saphe" was written as "shape" somewhere. "saphe-cracking" LOL! -phma 23:52, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I'm very impressed by your script. I did a small try for it myself, but never found out how to handle lists in a smart way. It's a proof-of concept how easy it is to go from Wikimarkup to print-ready package. (I'm also impressed by the packaging with logo, links and GFDL. The only thing missing is the URL to every article.) Cheers! โœ Sverdrup 21:06, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Metropolis = Public Domain I've always read that Giordo Moroder made is version of Metropolis because the film was PD (while the his Soundtrack wasn't). Considering the various DVD editions of the movie I think noone care about the copyright. I don't knowwhat's the exact situation about Metropolis but a lot of things reguarding intellectual property and copyright are special reguarding Germany before 1945. Ericd 20:47, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Unverified images

Hi. You uploaded Image:Better-tex-rendering.png but did not list any source and/or copyright information on the image description page. Please mark it either as GFDL or public domain. See Image copyright tags for more info. If the image was uploaded in error or cannot be licensed for use on Wikipedia, please add it to images for deletion. Please note that images without copyright information may be deleted in the future. Thanks. RedWolf 22:40, Dec 31, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] gnuplot

"Diagram of amplitude modulation, made by myself using gnuplot"

In the future, maybe I could ask you for help making better graphs? I don't make them much, but I made Image:Dba plot.png with maxima and gnuplot and I had to do a lot by hand afterwards... - Omegatron 19:20, Mar 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Jfja-recamier.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Jfja-recamier.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Thank you. โ€”MetsBot 18:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User categorisation

You were listed on the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Switzerland page as living in or being associated with Switzerland. As part of the Wikipedia:User categorisation project, these lists are being replaced with user categories. If you would like to add yourself to the category that is replacing the page, please visit Category:Wikipedians in Switzerland for instructions. --Army1987 12:31, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] PDF script

I've been thinking about applying the methods of hobbyist bookbinding (perhaps of the type discussed here or here) to the printing of Wikimedia content. I hear that you've written a working script for conversion from Mediawiki format to PDF, and I wondered how difficult it would be to provide a variant of that script that allows for printing of sewn quires or signatures, which can then be sewn together many at a time to form sections of a hardcover book. Look at the Linux command "psbook" if you decide to take on the project, and want some inspiration on the matter. Regards, Joel 03:28, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Photo555.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Photo555.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use article name or fairuse. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Pak21 13:05, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Giacometti.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Giacometti.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 13:40, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hyatt Kansas City Collapse.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Hyatt Kansas City Collapse.gif. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
