Ohio State University Box

I saw the box added to the Ohio State University page. It looks very good. My only problem with it concerns the Big Ear. That's been a defunct research project for a decade now. Including the Large Binocular Telescope would be far more relevent to current research projects and institutes at the university.--Sam Harmon 18:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Never mind. I see it's included in the campus section.--Sam Harmon 18:49, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Good question. I know that User:Rkevins82 has put a lot of work into it, and he may have tried some other options that we don't know about. Is there any way to make the links on the grey background red? That's about the only solution as I see it. Using a white background is less preferable than leaving it the way it is. Maybe a lighter shade of grey (almost silver) would contrast the links better.

I encourage anyone to edit the template. I'm still playing around with it (trying to get colors right, fonts properly sized, articles selected). Any feedback you have is great. The background color is the proper color of the university. I'll try and change fonts and font colors to make it more readable. Thanks. Rkevins82 19:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Seal Island and Template:BasketballBuckeyesCoach

Hey, Stubbleboy. I tweaked the image placement in Seal Island, so the [edit] link should stay in place now. As for your second request, I added your template to Category:United States education navigational boxes, though that might not be the best one. If you can find something more appropriate, feel free to replace it. Regards, Sango123 23:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Sure, no problem! There's always room on my talk page for more questions. ;) Cheers, Sango123 23:20, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Biswajit

The point is that he's been a movie star for over 40 years, and has appeared in nearly 60 movies. I'd say that definitely makes him notable, regardless of what language the movies are in. DS 01:58, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Be Careful

AfD isn't a vote :D Computerjoe's talk 18:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey I noticed this thread- I think the best way to use edit summaries is to summarize what you're saying. Anyone can tell, from the fact that you edited the afd, that you're participating. I usually say "keep" or "delete" or sometimes a few words about WHY in my edit summaries. You could use an edit summary of "editing this page" for every single edit, but it's hardly descriptive, right? :) Friday (talk) 18:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Hey thanks for the advise. I think Computerjoe must be bored or something. That's okay I'll still VOTE for him in his next RFA. Stubbleboy 18:40, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: ACW Template

Hi there! Because this template can become such a tinderbox, Hal and I have established an informal guideline that changes must be discussed on the template talk page and agreed before changes are made. While I'm not rendering any judgement about the relative worth/value of the contribution you've made, we ask users to go through the talk page first so the box doesn't become a link to everyone's favorite personality or local battle. BusterD 18:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Good catch! I didn't notice that crossed link when I was checking link connections. Perhaps you might start a Campaign stub and build it up. I suspect you'd find lots of help. I know neither Hal or I object to worthy contributions, but the two of us have seen so much mucked up, we've drawn a (dotted) line which we monitor closely on this very visble nav box.
As to Morgan's Raid, I stopped at including Morgan. I have an informal "two click rule" which is "every major article should be no farther than two clicks from this template." BusterD 23:43, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: List of victims of the 1913 Great Lakes storm

Hi again, Stubbleboy, and thanks for being alert. I've speedied the article under CSD A5. Regards, Sango123 23:37, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

GHe's RfA

Thank you

RfA thanks

Goldom's RFA thanks

Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (53/2/1). I've spent the day trying out the new tools, and trying not to mess things up too badly :). I was quite thrilled with all the support, both from the people I see around every day, as well as many users who I didn't know from before, yet wrote such wonderful things about me. I look forward to helping to serve all of you, and the project. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. -Goldom ‽‽‽ 04:33, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

East Orlando, Florida

I rewrote the first few paragraphs of the East Orlando, Florida article so that it would be more clearly about the community than the advocacy group. Could you please take a look at the article and make any other changes that seem appropriate? TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 06:13, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Deville's RfA

Hello, Stubbleboy, and thank you for the "doubtless" support on my recent RfA. The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. All the best, and thanks again! — Deville (Talk) 03:19, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Teke's RfA thanks

Thank you for your support of my RfA, which has passed with a final tally of 76/1/1. With this overwhelming show of support and approval I am honored to serve Wikipedia in the task charged to me and as outlined in my nomination. Happy editing to you! Teke (talk) 17:16, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Removing struk-out comments

Hi Stubbleboy,

Why did you remove this struck-out comment from the RFA page? I struck it out and did not remove it for a reason: RFAs need to be open. Removing other editors' comments, even struck out ones, shouldn't be done, especially with edit summaries of "fixing comment". Happy editing! :) Firsfron of Ronchester 09:35, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

JPD's RfA

Thanks, Stubbleboy, for your strong support at my RfA, which finished with a tally of 94/1/0. I hope I live up to the confidence you have shown in me in my activities as an administrator. JPD (talk) 15:44, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Not a sockpuppet

Jpfloru is not a sockpuppet of me, nor am I a sockpuppet of him. I don't think his contribution history and mine show any sort of sockpuppet activity. He's a Conservative councillor from Westminster (originally Belgian) and I'm a Nottinghamshire Labour supporter! The Golux 17:08, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Another Favor Please!

Hi again, Stubbleboy. Nice work on that article. I've added a references section with the basics, but it's up to you to complete the citations with information like author(s) and access date. Some pages you might find helpful on references and footnotes are Wikipedia:Citing sources, Wikipedia:Citations quick reference, Wikipedia:Citing sources/example style, and Category:Citation templates. If you need further examples or help, please ask. Thanks for the birthday wishes, by the way. :) Regards, Sango123 00:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the lovely surprise, especially your kind words! :D I'm glad I could be of help. Happy belated birthday to your mom. Cheers, Sango123 21:46, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Stubbleboy, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Now I am getting a bit offended by this

You didn't respond to my note on your talk page, but you added back the note alleging that User:Jpfloru was my sockpuppet. I am getting rather annoyed by this. I am most certainly not a Conservative councillor in Westminster! I have no interest in Conservative councillors in Westminster! Please stop accusing me like this. I'm sure it's possible for you to confirm in some other way that Jpfloru has nothing to do with me. The Golux 16:06, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Happy birthday Stubblemum!

Say happy birthday to your mum for me! Thanks -- Spawn Man 01:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC). {{subst:Smiley}}

Nishkid64's RfA thanks

Thank you very much for participating in my RfA, which closed successfully earlier today with a result of (60/9/4). Although, I encountered a few problems in my RfA, I have peacefully resolved my conflicts and made amends with the people involved. If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free talk to me. I hope I will live up to your expectations. --Nishkid64 22:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
