[edit] Merge

I don't see why there should be a page devoted to this period in SDS' history instead of just a new section on the original SDS article. Thoughts? Murderbike 22:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Nevermind. Saw talk at Talk:Students for a Democratic Society. Murderbike 22:47, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I'm one who thinks that this split was a BAD IDEA. The organization doesn't call itself "New SDS", but it calls itself "Students for a Democratic Society". It also appears to use the same insignia as the old organization. I'd be the first to say... merge it back! SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:29, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] LOL picture

With snowball fights and hugs on the intinerary, radical restructuring of society is obviously just around the corner! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.30.235.192 (talk) 01:17, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Recent UNC and Alabama protests

Alabama Protest Friday February 5, 2008:

"In a statement released by SDS, the group invited Jason Hurd of the Asheville, N.C. chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War to the ::University to speak on his experiences in Iraq, while a reenactment of a U.S. raid of Iraqi civilians was intended to demonstrate to ::students the human cost of the U.S. occupation of Iraq."

Prior incident at UNCA carried out by one of the persons involved at the Alabama demonstration (Feb.5.2008):

Citizen Times (Ashville NC):

"In the middle of a quiet student lounge at UNC Asheville last week, a group of women sat chatting quietly. Suddenly, a group of ::soldiers burst into the room, pulling the women out of their chairs and demanding they get down on the floor."

Incident recorded in a blog w/pictures

"A handful of SDS students posed as Iraqis sitting in their home. As the soldiers swept the room, they screamed, 'GET THE FUCK DOWN, ::DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW! MOVE! NOW! MOVE IT YOU STUPID BITCH!".

[edit] Leader

Pat Korte is not the leader of SDS. We, very explicitly, do not have leaders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.10.8.229 (talk) 06:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
