Stuff White People Like
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stuff White People Like is a comedy blog created by Christian Lander with the help of his high school friend Myles Valentin[1]. A satirical look at the interests of white people, the WordPress blog became popular very quickly, registering over 300,000 daily hits and over 20 million total hits as of the end of March 2008.[2][3] Lander himself is white.[3]
While the name has earned it controversy, the blog is not necessarily about the interests of all white people, but rather a subset of the larger population that can be variously described as affluent, well-educated (particularly in the liberal arts), environmentally conscious, anti-corporate, left-wing, and/or hipster. This is confirmed by several posts making reference to the "Wrong kind of white people" and not befriending these types.[4]
A book on the same topic, written by Lander, is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2008.[5]
