Studsvik

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Studsvik is a Swedish nuclear research reactor located next to Tvären bay. It was an important part in the Swedish nuclear program. In 2005 the two research reactors R2 (50 MW) and R2-0 (1 MW) were decommissioned. In October 2007 Atlantic Osprey, a nuclear waste disposal vessel, shipped old nuclear fuel from the decomissioned R1 reactor in Stockholm from Studsvik to Sellafield, causing protest from several organisations including Greenpeace.

In January 2008, Studsvik obtained lincese for a radioactive metal recycling plant near Sellafield [1].
