Studio C

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Studio C is an animatronic entertainment show currently used at the children's restaurant, Chuck E. Cheese's. The stage, in three varieties, was invented in 1998, and features a blue screen, TVs, and Chuck E. Cheese robot, all in the back of the restaurant. The original concept was to eliminate Chuck E.'s four friends, Helen Henny, Mr. Munch, Jasper Jowls, and Pasqually, and make Chuck E. interact with the character Bird. However, Jeremy Blaido took over, and made roles for all four.

[edit] Studio C Alpha

This was the first stage created by Garner Holt. It only featured a 33-movement[1] Chuck E. Cheese robot behind a desk. The desk in front of Chuck E. caused problems, because some stores would have to keep replacing the hand since it scraped across it. Also, kids who wanted to see Chuck E. would climb the desk and sometimes even get head damage. Chuck E. sports a classy suit, his "Cool Chuck" outfit, or the "Avenger" outfit. Behind him was a city backdrop in a fake window, resembling a late night talk show. To his left is a parrot and a green apple TV. There is one giant screen in the center that shows video and the puppet footage. Under the giant screen is a device called the "Interactive Console", which has 3 screens. The first screen is hooked up to the games on the Chuck E. Cheese's website, while the second makes sound effects and shows the video footage, and the third screen can control play cameras throughout the store. To stage-right of the setup is a blue screen. The blue screen stage also has 3 walls, making it hard to see Chuck E. if a child is on the stage. These stages also had an interactive karaoke device called "Chuck E.'s Star Search", but failed in 2001 after many problems occurred.

[edit] Studio C Beta

Studio C Alpha cost too much, so the setup was downgraded into Studio C Beta in 2001. The showroom wall was removed, instead, leaving a waist high wall. The Chuck E. robot now has only 16 movements in the "Cool Chuck" or "Avenger" outfit, although older Betas have 33 movements. The desk, backdrop, apple TV, and parrot are missing. In the background, there is a black and white spiral, and instead of one screen in the center, there are 3 smaller screens. It appears less classy than Studio C Alpha. The carpeting for the stage has the "STUDIO C" logo all around. The blue screen stage was reduced from 3 to 2 walls, one wall with an underwater mural.

[edit] Studio C Cappa

The Studio C Cappa stage is placed in smaller stores. It is similar to the Studio C Beta stage, but the stage has no curtains or fake curtains. Chuck E. still wears the "Cool Chuck" or "Avenger" outfit and has 16 movements. The three screens from Studio C Beta are placed above the blue screen, both of which were shrunken. Small stores were originally supposed to get an all-you-can-eat beans with a Chuck E. Cheese walkaround character on the floor at all times and pay at the door, but was unsuccessful and eventually the stores got Studio C Cappas installed.
