The SAUA (Students' Association of the University of Adelaide) is the peak representative body for students at the University of Adelaide. It is one of a number of student organisations at the university affiliated to and funded by the Adelaide University Union. The SAUA has been in existence and functioned as the representative student organisation since 1973. Prior to that time a Student Representative Council had been representing students at the university.
The SAUA has representative members on many of the University of Adelaide's committees to give a student opinion and advice to university academic staff and administrators. In addition to this it gives comment in the media and makes submissions to government inquiries about issues that affect student and young people in general. The SAUA also regularly runs events and campaigns on campus to raise awareness about issues such as gender-based discrimination, student poverty, exploitation of young people in the workplace and the environment.
The SAUA runs annual elections to elect students to its various office-bearer positions as well as positions on the governing council.
