[edit] Image uploads

Please go to Image:Dubai001.jpg and edit that image description page to give the source (URL, if online; ISBN, if scanned from a book; and if you've taken the image yourself, just say so) and the licensing status (the list of image copyright tags might be useful) of this image. All our images should have this information. Thank you. Note that copyright violations will be removed. Lupo 12:50, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] From the bottom of my heart

Regarding these edits that have been made to the From the Bottom of My Heart article. Do you have any sources for the information that you have put? KrisW6 06:40, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I was refering to the claims that Sony had reoffered him a contract though. Do you have a source for that?

Also could you sign your posts on other peoples Talk pages, as it makes replying easier. You can add four tildes (~~~~) to your posts. The software will replace them by your signature and a time stamp when you save the page.

[edit] Image copyright problem RE: Image:Mjstudio.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mjstudio.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

  • The copyright holder, and
  • The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:

  • The copyright holder gets the best protection of his work by licencing their work under an open content license like the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. If you have the express permission of the copyright holder to licence their work under the above licence, use the image copyright tag: {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}. The GNU Free Documentation License is another choice for licencing one's work. Again, if you have the express permission of the copyright holder, use the tag: {{GFDL}}.
  • The copyright holder can also release his work into the public domain, see here for images released into the public domain.
    • Images from certain sources are automatically release into the Public Domain. This is true for most governments like the federal United States government. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments) However not all governments release their work into the public domain, such as the UK government (See herefor images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.
  • Also, in some cases, an image is copyrighted but allowed on Wikipedia because of Fair Use. To see if this image qualifies and then how to tag it, see Wikipedia:Fair use.

For any other sources of for more information see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Please remember that if you don't tag your images, they will be deleted.

P.S. If you have uploaded other images without including copyright tags, please go back and tag them. Also, please tag all images that you upload in the future.

If you have any questions, just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks again. Extraordinary Machine 20:12, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV

I've had a look at some of your edit history, and it seems you've concentrated primarily on Michael Jackson-related articles here at Wikipedia. You seem to be a big fan, and fairly knowledgeable about Jackson. That's great -- we need folks like you to contribute! However, a number of your contributions seem to indicate you might not have read and understood neutral point of view, which is one of the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. Please have a look at that link before reverting back to "your" version of Michael Jackson again.--chris.lawson 07:06, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 3RR

Another Wikipedia policy with which you may wish to familiarise yourself is the three-revert rule, which states that users may not revert an article (except in cases of simple vandalism) more than three times within 24 hours. You have now reverted Michael Jackson four times. Further reverts will be reported to administrators, and may result in your being blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of time.--chris.lawson 07:53, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re Message to me on Michael Jackson talk page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_Jackson&diff=28100002&oldid=28099916 is what I reverted. Also, please don't be under the impression that logging out, and then logging in again as an anonymous user will exempt you from the 3RR, it doesn't. --KrisW6 08:41, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

From three-revert-rule - (This does not apply to self-reverts or correction of simple vandalism). Street walker 08:46, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit

Re: this edit, please do not modify pages that specifically state that they sould not be modified. The rule is there for a reason. Thanks. Oran e (t) (c) (@) 06:47, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] King of music

Right, I am reporting you for vandalism. You have been repeatedly warned regarding removing comments on talk pages regarding afd,s etc.

You have blatently removed a rfd notice on a redirect page, without ANY consensus being made. I have restored the page, and will warn you NOT to remove the rfd notice until a consensus has been reached on this. You accuse me on the rfd talk page that I have an anti Michael Jackson bias, you are wrong. The only bias I have are against fans trying to manipulate the artice and add a specific POV, something by looking at your edit history, is something you have been guilty of, and repeatedly warned against. --KrisW6 09:11, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Why then are you removing rfd notices before a consensus is reached, which is blatently against Wikipedia policy??? --KrisW6 09:23, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply, but you still haven't answered my question above, regarding the removal of a rfd from the King of music page, before any consensus has been reached. It is blatant vandalsim. --KrisW6 09:28, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Newbie

This is in response to your entry on Clueless newbies, and I'm going to save now and edit in small chunks because I just had a browser crash. If you see this and it seems incomplete, well it is - pls be patient - thanks! KillerChihuahua 20:58, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

First, kudos for posting on Clueless newbies, that shows a desire to learn the "rules" and do well here.

My first advice, and that's all it is - is to post a reply on KrisW6's Talk page and tell KrisW6 what you already posted on the newbies page - "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do wrong, I didn't understand. I won't do it again. " Be sure to sign with 4 tildes ~~~~.

Secondly, if you don't remove notices until you no longer feel you are "new to this" and fully understand what the notice is and who can remove it and when, you won't get into trouble for removing notices illegally. That's simple enough.

You already have learned about 3RR, so I won't beat you over the head with it. It would be an excellent idea for you to spend some serious time reading (even studying) WP:POV because that's a known problem area to correct. Other policies which apply to behavior are at WP:POLICY#Behavior_guidelines.

Now I'm going to mention something that I haven't seen anyone else mention to you: This is on Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines which I linked to above, but this one is one I think you might want to give special attention to. Wikipedia:No_legal_threats, which means posts like "I'll report you!" Try to resolve things politely first, and even repeatedly. Also WP:NPA, such as "You obviously have a hidden agenda." That kind of thing can get you warned, then in an Rfc, etc and even banned. Let's not go there. Follow Wikiette, and the other key policies.

I see that chris.lawson has given you some very good advice: take it.

Honestly, everything you need to know was in the Welcome message posted when you first arrived - Policies and guidelines, bias (NPOV), Style, How to sign your name - and everything you've brought up, or that others have brought up, seems to indicate that you didn't read that carefully, and follow all the links in the Welcome message. Please do so.

If you have any questions, please post on my talk page. Don't forget to always leave an edit summary when you do! I truly hope this has helped. KillerChihuahua 21:46, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV Again

Hi

Regarding this edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Albums_that_have_been_considered_the_greatest_ever&diff=28586324&oldid=28575732

You have been repeatedly warned about NPOV. I suggest you now actually read the advise given on WP:NPOV before making any further edits, or you are likely to be banned from Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.135.151.110 (talk • contribs) 03:43, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
